Many leagues in Portage County took a break this week due to the Thanksgiving holiday, but there were still several notable games and series accomplished.

IMPROVING ON AN AVERAGE

Dexter Worthy tossed the high game (279) and Scott Hensley the high series (726) in the Roofing Guy League that bowls on Saturday at Spins Bowl.

Worthy carries a 204 average and his high game was noted as a 75-pin improvement over his game average. He makes it a trio of bowlers holding the high game of 279: Barry Sano, John Brown and Worthy.

Hensley’s high series just missed making it into the top three for the season of high series by one pin. High series in the league for the men are: Cory Rafferty (762), Kevin Robbins (738) and Carl Logsdon (727).

The women at the top of the leaderboard include Courtney Martin, 653 series, and Ashlee Cottrell, 258 high game.

FEATURED SCORES IN THE GARDEN SPOT

Bowling on Wednesday nights, the Garden Spot League usually has solid scores to report each week.

This week was no different as Ryan Ambler grabbed high game-series honors, rolling a 289-767 and Terri Plaso (248) and Jessica French (645) shared the honors for the top of the leaderboard.
French’s 243 game was 60 pins better than her 183 average and Plaso improved on her average of 201 by 47 pins.

Ambler too had an outstanding evening of bowling rolling 75 additional pins than his 289 average.

FUN CLUB TAKEOVER

Phyllis Meonske earned high game, high series, most improved game and slid into the high series for the season in the Fun Club that bowls at 9:30 a.m. on Thursdays.

Meonske tossed a 158-437 to lead the league. Her 158 game was 46 pins better than her 112 average and her 437 series was 101 pins better than her 336 series average.

The 437 series pushed Meonske to the top of the leaderboard for the season, topping Sue Harold’s 378.

Only Bonnie Tripplett ruined the clean sweep. Tripplett rolled a 181 high game earlier in the season and still holds the top spot for best game.
