The second day of the Good Park Junior Golf Tournament in Akron started early as the golfers sought to fire solid rounds after their first day of qualifying.
Sammy Morgan, a sophomore on the Southeast Pirates’ varsity golf team maintained her first-place qualifying spot, shooting a 75 to lead the girls’ Championship Flight.
Morgan’s score was so good, she leads the flight by a dominant 13 strokes.
Additional Southeast golfers competing include: Aubree Varga (91) in fourth place and Jennifer Mix (101) in sixth place.
In the First Flight, Emily Morrison, joined her teammates with the party of leaders from Southeast, carding an 87 for first place in the flight. Teammate Jessica Mix shot a 98, good for fourth place in the First Flight of girls.
For the boys, Jax Turner of Kent shot his way to a 79 on the tough fairways of Good Park to earn eighth place in the Championship Flight with one day remaining.
Jude Thiry of Mogadore scored a 78 in the First Flight, good for second place and Brock Thiry fired an 88 to take seventh place by himself.
The 86th annual tournament concludes in Akron on Friday with an additional 18-holes for all junior golfers to determine the champion of each flight.
No spectators are permitted on the fairways of Good Park during the annual Junior Tournament.
