This is the final Par for the Course of 2025, but it certainly does not mean the golf season has concluded.
A look at the calendar findfs three tournaments still scheduled for competition in November.
Several golf courses remain open throughout the winter, weather permitting, but a call ahead is always warranted to make sure the course is open.
While some golfers are cleaning their clubs and hanging up the golf bag, there are many of us pulling out our cart covers and making sure we have propane for our golf-cart heaters to continue playing the game we love.
Fair weather golfers may be headed to locations of golf simulators and indoor hitting spots to keep their game sharp during the winter.
In reality, the golf season never ends.
There are several opportunities for golfers to help families in need as the winter holiday season begins.
The Ben Curtis Family Foundation is in the midst of the wonderful things they do for children and families at Christmas as the foundation continues to focus on children’s food insufficiency.
There are always volunteer opportunities with the Foundation including packing Birdie Bags that are sent to schools and go home with children.
During this season, Giving Trees are located in several places throughout Portage County and the surrounding area. The trees are filled with wish lists for children as the foundation also plans their Very Merry Chistmas Dinner.
Location of trees include: Windmill Lakes Golf Club in Ravenna, Kent City Schools Board of Education, Kent Area Chamber of Commerce, Impower Fitness in Ravenna and several more throughout Kent, Ravenna, Stow and Hudson.
Check out the Ben Curtis Family Foundation on Facebook for additional information or log onto bencurtisfoundation.org.
As the regular golf season winds down, Portage Sports will continue to share the success of golfers throughout the winter. Golfers competing in winter tournament opportunities or who enjoy individual achievements may continue to share their outstanding shots, rounds and achievements. Please send info to golffam2@gmail.com or text 330-206-9083. We look forward to sharing the accomplishments of all golfers throughout winter if you are traveling to warmer climates or finding a cold-weather event close to home.
Have a wonderful winter and always look forward to hearing from greater Portage County golfers.
