The 1912 Ravenna High School football team sits in front of the Walnut School at the corner of Highland and Walnut streets.

The “Walnut School” (also called “Highland School” and “Bowery Street School”) that stands there now is the 1910 addition to the front of the original 1883 Ravenna High School building. The original 1883 portion was razed around 1955. It served as the high school until the old RHS on Clinton Street opened in the fall of 1923.

No specific team names were available.

Unfortunately, the only names I had available that are included in the photo, but I was not sure which player they match up to, are Clyde Heisler and Clay Dietrick.

Any additional information about this team can be emailed to me at tomnader@portagesports.com.

A special thank you to Portage County historian Jon Ridinger for help on the location and school that this photo was taken in front of.
