Welcome to Portage Sports!

Portage County’s new locally owned sports media and marketing company.

We look forward to providing you with daily coverage of the county’s high school, middle school and youth sports.

But since we are new and you are new to the site, here is a little bit about us:

Q: What will be featured on portagesports.com?

A: Daily updates will be based on an all-inclusive coverage model. The idea there is that all sports and will get as much coverage as possible. Naturally, certain coverage days will be heavier in one sport than another, but overall, by the end of seasons, the hope is that we have delivered across all sports as equally as possible.

We will do this through game coverage and roundups, box scores, feature stories, recurring series, previews and a variety of other stories that may not fit into a neatly shaped box, but will most certainly enhance coverage.

Q: What schools will be featured?

A: The focus will be on Portage County. We wish well for all schools regardless of what county they are in, but this is a site dedicated to the coverage of Portage County sports. Aurora, Crestwood, Garfield, Field, Kent Roosevelt, Mogadore (yes, part of the village does sit in Portage County), Ravenna, Rootstown, Southeast, Streetsboro, Waterloo and Windham.

Q: How can I access stories?

A: Stories will publish on a daily basis onto the website and are free for anyone to read at any time. There is no paywall. There are subscription models in place, including a monthly and annual, but they are not required for you to read any story.

Q: Why should I subscribe if the stories are already free?

A: Subscribers will receive perks along the way as a sign of appreciation. In honesty, subscription models will help fund daily and future coverage. Like a good teammate makes a team stronger, your subscriptions will help make our company stronger and ultimately lead to coverage expansion.

Q: Is there a print product as well?

A: The short answer is, “No.” However, after we get our foundation established, we will pursue a couple of premium print products per year. We won’t be shy about these. When we are ready to announce the print products, we will be sure that you are the first to know!

Q: What social media channels compliment the website?

A: Currently, we have Twitter and Facebook pages set up.

Twitter: @Tom_Nader

Facebook: facebook.com/PortageSportsNews

Q: How can I offer a story tip?

A: I am always available. Please feel free to reach out to me via email at tomnader@portagesports.com or through social media. There are always interesting and great things happening in our communities, and I will be excited for you to share them with me.

Q: What else should we know?

A: Be sure to check out the Portage Sports store for an apparel line that will continue to grow. Some of those designs are available already in our shop. If we see you out and about at a game, we will probably stop you to get a picture of you in your Portage Sports gear!
