The Northeast Ohio District Golf Coaches announced the athletes named to its All-District golf teams and, as expected, Portage County golfers were rewarded for their outstanding play on the fairways this season.
Kent Roosevelt’s Liam Curtis and Aurora resident Chris Pollak (Hoban) led the honorees on the boys Division I All-Northeast Ohio team after both advanced to the OHSAA state tournament; Curtis as an individual for Kent Roosevelt and Pollak as a member of the Hoban Knights’ state runner-up team.
Girls advancing to the state tournament were rewarded by the coaches of the Northeast Ohio District as Gracyn Vidovic, of Aurora, and Madolyn Kost, of Kent Roosevelt, each earned the nod for first team in Division I.
In Division II, Southeast’s Taylor Blazek received the votes from the Northeast Ohio District Coaches after her stellar performance on the Ohio State University Gray Course.
However, it wasn’t only the golfers advancing to the state tournament that received the votes from the coaches in the Northeast Ohio District.
James Morgan of Southeast, Player of the Year in the Portage Trail Conference and an individual qualifier for the Division II District Tournament received First Team honors — as did Mogadore’s Lucas Butler, who helped take his Wildcats to the district tournament. His Wildcat teammate, Kyle Gardner, was voted to the Second Team All-District in Division II to join Butler in recognizing Mogadore’s solid season.
In Division I, Brooklyn Millard of Aurora, fresh off competing in the first Junior PGA Ohio Cup with Vidovic, also earned First Team All-District honors. In Division II, Southeast’s Gracie Westover also was named to the First Team.
Aurora’s Max Devins, a senior for the Greenmen, was rewarded with second team, All-District for his advancement to the Pine Hills Division I District.
