TEAM OUTLOOK

Second-year head coach Nick Sladky was impressed with the off-season commitment from his wrestlers to prepare for the upcoming season.

“The girls put in a lot of work over the summer during lifting sessions and open mats,” Sladky said.

THE LINEUP

Senior Reise Thomas returns to lead the lightweights. She placed fourth overall at the sectional tournament a season ago.

In the middleweights, the trio of Madison Giebel, Morgan Giebel and Ella Derr spotlight the weight class.

Madison Giebel was second at sectionals, Morgan Giebel was third and Derr made the podium with a fourth-place finish.

WHAT MAKES THIS YEAR’S TEAM SPECIAL?

“They are a tight group on and off the mat. The girls are always mat-side, rooting on their teammates.”

UNDERCLASSMEN TO WATCH

“I expect big seasons this year from Sophia Byers and Morgan Giebel. They work hard and it will pay off.”
