TEAM OUTLOOK

The Falcons enter Year 2 for the program and have seven returning letterwinners that have the potential to grow success.

“We are looking to improve in all areas and continue to build on the foundation we established last year,” head coach Mason Brainard said. “You can really see the growth in the returning wrestlers, as they are much more confident in their skills and have taken on a leadership role by helping our newcomers catch up to speed.”

Field’s lineup has grown to 12 wrestlers this season and Brainard said “all will play a meaningful role in how successful our season is.”

The top returner is Izzy Dickens, who became the program’s first-ever district qualifier and district placer last season.

WE HAVE A SUCCESSFUL SEASON IF…

“If we continue to grow and develop as people on and off the mat. Our success isn’t just measured in the wins and losses, but measured by the progress we continue to make throughout the season.

“If everyone reaches their goal that they set for themselves, then we will have a successful season.”

WHAT MAKES THIS YEAR’S TEAM SPECIAL?

“This season is special because we are entering the second year of our program with the same excitement, enthusiasm and work ethic as Year One. We have seven returning team members, along with adding five girls who are new to the team.

“This puts us in a unique position, as the older girls can help mentor and guide along the newer members, but are also very coachable and eager to learn as we are still very inexperienced.”

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT

“We have four seniors — Carly Eldreth, Izzy Dickens, Raegan Slusser, Liz Rock — who helped set the foundation of the program last season and continue to lead us in the right direction. All of them look to improve themselves and help the underclassmen become better wrestlers.”

CAUSE FOR CONCERN

“We are still a fairly young and inexperienced team. This will cause us to make some mistakes, but the goal is to learn from them and don’t make them a second time. As long as we stay coachable and keep improving, we’ll be exactly where we need to be.”
