The girls track and field preview for the Ravenna Ravens’ 2023 season:

THE TEAM

Head Coach: Laddie Fair, 1st year at Ravenna (11th overall; 67-32 career record).

Coaching Staff: Dominic Jones, Xavier McShan, Devin Machetes, Demonte Powell, Alex Huff.

2022 Record: 7th at Metro Athletic Conference Championships.

State Qualifiers: None.

Underclassmen to Watch: NaCol Foreman, soph.; Darya Olefir, soph.; Jayla’ Walker, fresh.

SEASON OUTLOOK

“To get better daily, understanding that this is a marathon,” first-year head coach Laddie Fair said.

Fair wants his group to “continue to work with the right frame of mind.”

SPRINTERS

The Ravens are led by senior Avonlea Jefferson and junior Samantha Weber.

“Both are well-rounded athletes that are also versatile,” Fair said.

DISTANCE RUNNERS

An upperclassman nd an underclassmen spotlight the distance group for the Ravens in senior Paige China and sophomore Julia Stratton.

“They will look to improve their times with a new coaching staff,” Fair said.

FIELD EVENTS

Senior Reese Johnston is the leader of this group.

“Reese is looking forward to a new coaching staff and improving her results from a year prior,” Fair said.
