GENERAL OUTLOOK

“Last year we accomplished a lot,” head coach Louis Kastelic said. “I knew we had a tremendous amount of talent, and the group of guys who made up the varsity squad had played together for a long time. We had goals in mind, and we achieved all but one. Those 14 seniors will be missed.

“That said, they helped set the bar for this year’s group as well as any team who comes through in the future, and we plan to do everything we can to make that group and Aurora proud. I NEVER expect to get to a state championship, but I expect every player and coach to work and improve each day, and I know that if we do that, we will put ourselves in a position to compete throughout the year in every game. We are younger this season than last, but we still bring back a lot of experience. Whether that experience was on the varsity team or with our players competing with each other and pushing last year’s team in practice, we know that we have a great group who will fight each day at practice and in every game. The important thing for any time in any year is to ride the waves. I say it all the time, never get too high, and never get too low. As long as we stick together and work with one another, I have no doubt we will give everything we have and compete.”

FORWARDS

“Cameron Gentille returns for his senior year and is a four-year letterwinner. His ability to attack defenses from anywhere on the field is a strength that teams will likely plan for, but his ability to overcome that and produce is something we look forward to. Cameron also brings a sense of leadership, having played at this level for four years. We will rely on him and his growth as a teammate to help push this team forward and to uplift everyone within the program. In addition, we are excited about the challenges he faces ahead and how he will manage being the threat that other teams want to slow down.

Other players like Rhys Popa, Mitchell Warnke and Barry Wagner will get time at forward as well.

“Rhys will be a junior and is someone who likely would’ve gotten a chance to play varsity at any other school last year, but we were fortunate enough to have a lot of options at this position.

“Now, it is his time to shine, and we look forward to his natural ability to create chances out of nothing and to put the ball in the back of the net. Mitch is a freshman who stood out during tryouts, and he has abilities that take most other freshmen time to develop. He will get opportunities and gain experience that we are looking forward to having for years to come. “Barry is mainly a midfielder, but as he comes into his senior season, he is someone we plan to move around a lot based on the opponent and what each game dictates. He is a tremendous player who can go box-to-box and can help our team offensively and defensively.”

MIDFIELD

Wagner is one of the top midfielders in the state.

“Unfortunately, the things he does extremely well do not always show up within his individual stats, but they lead to goals and assists for others. We look forward to Barry being able to fill the stat sheet a bit more given the departures from last year and him being an anchor in the middle of the field.”

Camden Roy and Evan Charles both return for their second seasons with varsity.

“Camden started every game for us as a freshman and fit well with last year’s group. We are hopeful that he will take the next step in his development and help create chances and continue to bring a calming presence to our midfield. Evan is similar to others we have on our team this year in that he likely would have seen more playing time if he went to another school last season, but we had so much quality in our squad. He has learned and developed into someone we think can be a huge presence in the middle of the pitch and on the wings when we need him.

“Perhaps the best kept secret of our team is Grady Broyles. Unfortunately, Grady suffered a significant injury last summer and missed the 2025 season. He will be a senior and has great foot skills and can read the game very well. He knows where to be and when and can add a dynamic to our team that we wished we had last year but are very excited about getting this season.

Jack Ries is a senior who saw less playing time than he would have liked last season, “again due to the talent we had within that squad, but he knows the game and brings a threatening ability to cross the ball from either side of the field at any given time. Additionally, he is versatile and can play anywhere on the field defensively or offensively. He is a great teammate, and can help lead our guys.”

Kaden Loparo is entering his senior season and was a great leader within the JV team last season.

“He is another player that has an understanding of what to do defensively and can be an offensive threat for us moving forward.

“Sahith Maralla is a sophomore who we look forward to adding to the team. He has shown great skills with his feet and continues to develop his mind for the game so that he can work for us defensively and offensively. We are excited about what all of these guys bring to the team.”

DEFENSE

“Colton Simmerman is the anchor of our defense. He will be a senior, and he is the most athletic player on our team and can shut down any opposing player who he defends. Colton came up huge for us last season on multiple occasions, and we expect more of the same from him this year.

“Nicky Savukas is a junior with a lot of varsity experience. He and Colton were part of a tremendous defense last year, and we are grateful that both of them get another year together. Nicky brings experience and knowledge that not only will help him and our defense as a whole, but we look forward to him being a key piece to connecting our experienced and inexperienced players to get them up to speed quicker. He has a quiet but powerful demeanor about him that guys respect and listen to.

“Clay Blaser is a sophomore who we expect to take a step forward with his game and contribute meaningful minutes throughout the season. He showed an ability last year on JV that we are excited to bring up to varsity this year. He has good height and can win balls offensively and defensively for us.

“Lukas Garcia and Brennen Winkler are two juniors who helped lead last year’s JV squad. They each have great speed and can get up and down the filed on the wings, which will help in our attack and allow our defense to overwhelm teams with numbers.

“Pietro Roberto is a freshman who did a tremendous job during tryouts. He showed a lot of skill and poise for someone his age. We look forward to his development and evolvement for many years to come.”

GOALKEEPERS

“Joe Fielding is entering his senior season. He replaces Bryce Peckinpaugh, who was tremendous for us over the last few years. Joe has put in the work and stayed ready over the years to earn the right at being our starting keeper in his senior season. Joe makes the saves that leave people wondering how that was even possible. We are looking forward to him growing and leading our team from between the pipes.

“Kylan Sprague did not play last season, but he has returned to the program. He is extremely coachable and helps push Joe and the other goalies within the program to improve each day. We are confident that, when he gets his opportunities to play, he will do well and lead our team just as we would expect.”

GENERAL OUTLOOK

“We have high expectations for this group,” head coach Amanda Parsons said. “There’s a lot of talent, but talent alone isn’t going to get us where we want to go. We want to be a team that works hard, plays for each other and competes for 80 minutes every night. If we can do those things consistently, we feel like we can compete with anyone on our schedule.”

FORWARDS

“We expect Ryder Miller to be a major part of our attack. He has the speed and ability to stretch defenses, and when he plays with confidence and makes decisive runs, he can be very difficult to defend.

“Colt Byers’ work rate really sets the tone for us. He doesn’t just wait for the ball – he presses defenders, makes runs, creates space and does a lot of the little things that help our attack.”

MIDFIELD

Colton Mayle is very comfortable on the ball and does a good job finding space out wide. His ability to beat a defender and deliver a quality ball into the box can be a big part of the team’s attack.

“Dakota Powers is our senior midfielder and extremely talented. He is able to put the ball in the back of the net at any location on the offensive half of the field. He is one to watch this year.

“Isaac Siege has a great understanding of the game and sees things developing before they happen. His decision-making and movement off the ball make him extremely valuable on the left side. He is a natural born leader and leads this team by example.

“Henry Sommer is one of the most technically advanced players we have on the team. His ball skills, vision and creativity can create multiple scoring opportunities. Not only is he an offensive threat but a defensive one as well. He doesn’t back down from anyone or anything on that field.”

DEFENSE

“Owen Overfield is one of two seniors who will be helping hold down the back line. Last year was his first year playing defense and he truly excelled. We can’t wait to watch him step up even more being one of the senior leaders this year.

“Last year we pushed Gio Brock up into the midfield and he did a fantastic job for us. This year we will be dropping him to the back line, although he is no stranger to playing there; two years ago he was first team All-Conference playing defense. He is one of the most versatile players on the team. Speed, strength and physicality are just a few things that make him the stronger defender he is.

“Sam Pausch brings toughness to our back line. He’s strong in tackles, competes in the air and never backs away from a challenge.

“What has impressed us most about Evan Goodell is his composure. For a young defender, he doesn’t panic on the ball and makes smart decisions in difficult situations.”

GOALKEEPERS

“Gabe Weaver has continued to grow and develop throughout his career, and we’re excited to see him put everything together in his senior season. He has the ability to make some big saves for us, and we’re expecting him to be an important part of our success defensively.”

“Nathan Fulks was the Metro Athletic Conference Player of the Year last season with a great eye for goal. Some of the best striking and finishing I have seen from a player. Other forwards will be Aidan Phillips, Benjamin Frampton and Alex Freudeman.”

MIDFIELD

“Ethan Flores-Soler has an amazing work ethic with a knack for finding the ball and escaping tight areas. Tyler Doubrava is great on the ball with the touch to help calm a game down with a great defensive presence. Kaiden Wilson is great defensively to put a tackle in and get the ball going forward again. Great passing range and dribbling ability. Paxson Silveus and Mason Gainer are also midfielders.”

DEFENSE

“Tristan Reuting, Adam Fanger, Aleutian Taylor and Cole Porter will lead the way. Cole is one of our captains who has shown to be a great leader who you can depend on to be a good example for the team.”

“Kamren Brastine has great technique with an accurate punt. Adam Fanger is our other goalkeeper.”

GENERAL OUTLOOK

“We return with a young but motivated team this season,” head coach Garyn Daniels said. “We have some guys who are ready to step into some roles to fill some big minutes in some positions that were occupied by the graduating class; that class contained five starters and, in particular, four-year lettermen in Simon Khan and Simon Hassler.”

FORWARDS

Leading the line will be senior Isan Roberts and junior Kellen Obraza.

“Roberts has the ability to change the game in an instant with his speed and power on the ball as well as an ability to use both feet. He is coming off a great club season and a junior year where he had five goals and four assists.

“Obraza does a lot of the dirty work up top and has a knack for being in the right place at the right time when balls are swung into the box.

“Seniors Lucas Walters and Kevin Zifchak will provide depth, with Zifchak being one of the hardest workers on the team and Walters possessing technical ability with the ball at his feet.”

MIDFIELD

Returning to lead the midfield will be All-Ohio junior Callaghan Knapp and senior Aaron

McKinney.

They will be joined by junior Josiah Atanga, sophomore Ian Mikula and senior Mateo Morelos.

“Callaghan is one of the best technical players on the ball in the area and can score the ball a number of ways. His passing ability opens up the field for many of his teammates. Aaron is a great two-way midfielder who not only initiates many attacks from his position but is strong defensively on the ball.

“Josiah and Ian are nonstop around the ball, and their work rate drives the midfield. Both have great ability on the ball as well as off the ball that allow them to be game changers. Mateo is the strongest player on the team and wins a lot of balls defensively to start the attack.

Look for junior Andrew Villasagua and promising freshman Charlie Roeder to provide depth.

“Villasagua has a great work rate and Roeder possesses great composure well beyond his years when he is on the ball.”

DEFENSE

Returning starters in senior Holden Morris and junior Cameron Lowe will be joined by senior

Zach Gharky and junior Drezden May to lead the back line.

“Holden is the rock on the line that keeps it all together. His toughness in the tackle and in the air really help to keep the defense sound. Cameron has great speed and ball-winning ability that allow him to cover almost anyone on the field.

“Drezden is our Swiss army knife and is a great two-way defender with not only great one-on-one defending, but has the quality to join the attack and play dangerous balls. Zach is one of the hardest workers on the team and reads the game well. His soccer IQ is off the charts.

Junior Ellias Algbali provides depth off the bench with great skill with the ball at his feet.

Also look for senior Ethan Hansen-Gurkan to see minutes on the back line as well as promising

freshman Logan Poluga.

“Poluga has already shown great maturity and technical ability on the ball that allows him to be dangerous in the attack.”

GOALKEEPERS

The leader in the goalie room is senior Eli Barkley.

“Having started since he was a sophomore, Eli has great size that allows him to make great saves in one-on-one situations and also gives him strong prowess on balls in the air. He has great command of the defense, and we are looking forward to a strong season out of him. Backing him up will be a pair of freshmen in Max Bailey and Klayton Zifchak. Max is very strong in the air and comes off his line well. Klayton has great shot-stopping ability with his quick reactions and possesses great technical ability with the ball at his feet.”

“Lucas Garey controls the middle for us and possesses great foot skills and endurance. He is also the work engine of the team.”

“Jack Rainone and Terrill Strickland are two of the best defenders in the area. They are both four-year starters. Both possess speed and truly understand the defensive back position.

“After losing only five seniors to graduation, we will return with a strong core of experienced and talented players,” Voth said. “Our goal is to build off of the previous three years of tournament runs (district runners-up, regional semifinalists, regional runners-up) to hopefully win our first regional championship.

“We also have a solid core of underclassmen who we hope develop further with this year’s JV schedule before moving to the newly formed Greater Portage Athletic Conference at the start of the 2027-28 school year.”

FORWARDS

Zach Pastor returns for his senior year as one of the best offensive threats in Portage County.

“Zach possesses an amazing ability to get behind defenders with the ball at his feet and will finish close shots with ease. Fellow senior Sam Textor will look to join Pastor up top and use his explosive speed to help stretch the field while combining with our playmakers.”

MIDFIELD

“Senior Bryson Scarlett has proven time and time again that he is the heartbeat of the team. He is a tenacious defender who also has superb playmaking abilities — a combination that has been on display since his freshman year.”

Junior Dylan Boland continued to impress last year.

“He combines a powerful shot, hard-nosed defending and a strong soccer IQ into his own style of soccer. Senior Tycho Smolk brings a strong sense of composure and foot skills to the team as a playmaker. He is a versatile player who can excel on both the midfield and the forward lines.”

DEFENSE

Seniors Caleb Fillmore and Dean Abdlrasul will return to the backline for one more season.

“Both Fillmore and Abdlrasul possess the ability to get us out of danger and to create chances by using their long throw-ins.”

Junior Daniell Strebler may also return to the defensive line this year after changing positions between his freshman and sophomore years.

Sophomore Alex Pastor showed a lot of versatility during his freshman year by playing all over the field.

“His speed and strength can be used in various positions, but he may be a leading candidate to replace graduate Ben Smith’s spot on the defensive line. And watch senior Brayden Dougherty, who is new to the program.”

GOALKEEPERS

“Senior Noah Zager and sophomore Tyson Rainer will once again look to compete for the starting spot. Last year, Zager earned himself 1st Team All-CVC honors after impressing against league competition. He later starred in the regional semifinal against top-seeded Champion when he saved three out of five penalty kicks in the shootout, including their final two, advancing us to our second ever regional final. Rainer saw a lot of action during our JV contests last season and has continued to improve over the spring and summer.”

“We have our top goal scorers from last year returning with Bradley Dillon and Jackson Oyster along with adding in freshman Wyatt Bowers. We look to be more offensive minded than we have in past years. Having the skill and ability to keep the ball in opponents’ defense half will be a team goal of ours this season.”

MIDFIELD

“Our midfield is solid as we have some of our speediest players in Dylan Dorsey and Jacob Sladkey along with Ethan Brittingham and Anderson Bowers, who will hold up the middle of the field. Add in the likes of opportunist players such as Matt Ross and Samuel Evans, and it makes for a well-rounded midfield with depth.”

DEFENSE

“Our defense has always been our strong suit, and that does not change this year. Cole Bruno will lead our back line along with Jakob Schaffner and Rigoberto Flores. Add in some young talent like Adam Canale and Colton Dillon along with Eli Cogswell, and we have considerable depth on the defensive side of the ball.”

GOALKEEPERS

“Garret Davis returns as our goalie after taking the reins midway through his freshman year. He has put in a tremendous amount of offseason training and is looking better every day. He is one of the top two goalies in our conference (Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Gray Tier) and I would contend the best in Portage County.”

GENERAL OUTLOOK

“What we lost in talent and leadership from our three seniors last year we have made up for in numbers. We are still going to be pretty young with five freshmen and eight sophomores,” Gasbarre said. “However, the experience our sophomores got last year playing varsity as freshmen should prove beneficial. We aim to build on the season we had last year with talent across all classes.

FORWARDS

Leading the way will be juniors Zaciah Cook and Iram Andrade and freshmen Jimmy Nagle and Saeed Aljalel.

“Zaciah has been improving every year, and I look for him to have a breakout season. Jimmy has a lot of talent that I look forward to seeing play alongside Zaciah.”

MIDFIELD

Pacing the midfield will be seniors Logan Sadowski, Nick Castrilla and Geo Francis; sophomores Graham Jonas, Joao Nascimento and Asahel Castelan; and freshmen Wyatt Smith, Liam Scott and Lucas Allen.

“Logan and Nick are two leaders of the team. They are both very skilled and demand the other teams’ attention. I look forward to them bringing some of the underclassmen along in their development.”

DEFENSE

Pacing the defense will be seniors Ty Zipprich and Jaiden Kendrick and sophomores Nathan Schoenherr, Colin Scalia, Tyler Sesler and Evan Gasbarre.

“Nathan, Colin and Ty worked very well together in their first year playing together in the back. I look forward to see their growth this year.”

GOALKEEPERS

“Sophomore Preston Krzeminski had a phenomenal year as a freshman. I hope to protect him more this year, but I know he will be more than equal to the task if called upon.”
