The Kent Roosevelt swimmers competed at the district meet on Saturday, resulting in additional athletes qualifying for the OHSAA state meet, along with diving qualifiers Kate Ennemoser and Ethan Rodriguez.

Junior Trinity Heath qualified in two individual events, the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle. Heath finished third in the 50 freestyle and earned an automatic bid and earned fifth in the 100 freestyle.

Not advancing, but still having great performances, were the girls 200 medley relay, landing in sixth overall and the girls 200 freestyle relay earning eighth place.

Junior Max Froman qualified to the state meet in the 100 breastroke and sophomore Sam Love earned the state-tournament bid in the 50 freestyle.

Along with the individuals, the boys 200 freestyle relay, including senior Moses Hanson, senior Sam Amodio, junior Max Froman and sophomore Sam Love, also qualified.

In total, Roosevelt qualified five boys and two girls to the state meet.

TRINITY HEATH

“I am extremely proud of this group and so excited to watch them compete at the state level,” said Corey Spicer, coach of the Kent swimming teams. “They have been working so hard since October to make this dream a reality.

“With how talented we are as a team in swimming and diving, it’s an honor to make it out to Canton to compete,” Spicer added. “Trinity (Heath) will be returning to compete in the same events she qualified out last year. Looking to climb the ranks higher than her finishes las season.

“Ethan (Rodriguez) will return to the state meet after not diving last season. He looks to eclipse his sophomore season finish.

“Max (Froman) will be our only returning boy swimmer after being a part of our 12th place state finishing 200 medley relay last year,” offered the coach. “He looks to take on his first individual event while leading our boys 200 freestyle relay.

“We will have three state returning members, sophomore Trinity Heath, senior Ethan Rodriguez and junior Max Froman who will help guide our new, first time qualifiers, seniors Ennemoser, Hanson and Amodio and sophomore  Sam Love,” explained the coach.

The OHSAA state tournaments are Feb. 24-Feb. 28 at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton.
