Cloverleaf High School recently announced it is leaving the Metro Athletic Conference.
The district’s athletic programs were accepted as members of the Principals Athletic Conference (PAC) beginning for the 2028-29 school year.
Cloverleaf had been members of the Portage Trail Conference beginning in 2015, then was a founding member of the Metro Athletic Conference in 2020.
Prior to joining the PTC back in 2015, the Colts were members of the Suburban League.
Beginning in 2028, the Metro Athletic Conference is expected to consist of Cuyahoga Falls, Field, Kent Roosevelt, Norton, Streetsboro, Tallmadge and Woodridge.
Current MAC members Ravenna and Springfield have also announced they are leaving the league to join the Greater Portage Athletic Conference beginning in 2027-28.
Coventry also recently previously announced it was leaving the MAC to join the PAC beginning this fall for the 2026-27 school year.
It is believed that the MAC will immediately begin its search to find a school to replace Cloverleaf to return the league to eight teams for 2028.
The addition of Cuyahoga Falls, Kent Roosevelt and Tallmadge to the MAC was announced for the start of this fall.
In 2028, member schools for the PAC are expected to be: Canton South, Cloverleaf, Coventry, Manchester, Northwest, Orrville, Triway and West Holmes. West Holmes is also scheduled to join in 2028. Cloverleaf and West Holmes received invitations to join the PAC following the announcement by Fairless and Tuslaw that they were leaving to become members schools in the Northeast Senate League.
