SEASON OUTLOOK

The Red Devils do not have a lot of players with varsity experience, but the group they do have includes shooters that will allow them to spread the floor offensively. That space should also create opportunities to attack from the wing or to inlet to the post.

“We want to be aggressive and fast,” Henderson said.

Defensively, the team will focus on creating pressure that leads to turnovers and easy transition baskets.

“We will be successful if we come together as a team and trust each other to compete with everyone we face,” Henderson said.

GUARDS

Sophomore Hannah Ward returns as the team’s leading scorer after averaging 11.2 points per game a year a go in her debut season. She buried 63 3-pointers at a high percentage (40 percent).

“Hannah has the ability to shoot, drive and pass, which will allow for her role to grow as a leader,” Henderson said.

The Red Devils have plenty of additional depth in the backcourt.

Senior Elaine Guyette provided quality minutes last year and allows the Devils to play quick defensively.

Sophomores Abby Guyette and Emma Poling will also be valuable.

“Abby played as our first guard off the bench last year. She is the ultimate competitor and is always working on defense. Emma is super athletic. She will be helpful on defense and has potential to get to the rim at will.”

Juior Kaitlyn Huffman, who Henderson describes as aggressive and hard working, will also be in the mix.

So will freshman Becca Brady.

“She has great skills on both sides of the ball,” Henderson said.

FORWARDS

The Devils’ front court has more upperclassmen, with seniors Kelsey Downs and Febby White, along with junior Lilly O’Bryant, highlighting the group.

“Kelsey uses her length to change shots and grab rebounds. Febby will be a key component on defense and pressuring full court. Likely will be all over the boards and help the team get the key stops to get the ball.”

Sophomore Maddie Dustman has the athleticism to spread the floor and can also handle the basketball.

“Maddie will be key on the glass and creating matchup issues for other teams,” Henderson said.

WHAT MAKES THIS YEAR’S TEAM SPECIAL

“This year’s team has tons of young talent and a group that loves to have fun and is extremely coachable,” Henderson said.

CAUSE FOR CONCERN

“We are super young, with very little varsity experience. We are going to complete, but we will have to learn how to win,” Henderson said.

LEAGUE OUTLOOK

According to Henderson, it will be Berkshire and Kirtland at the top of the league.
