When the Pfeiffer family announced the 30th annual Richard Pfeiffer Golf Scramble, they also announced that it would be the final event for this always anticipated golf outing.

“It is with sadness and appreciation that we announce this year’s 30th annual Richard Pfeiffer Golf Scramble will be our last,” said Brent Pfeifer, son of the namesake of the outing. “We have been overwhelmed with the support we have received over the years, but we believe it is in our best interests to finish on a high note. Dad always said he wanted to out on his terms and this is no different.”

The proceeds for the outing have benefited Rough Rider Golf and Kent Roosevelt Distributive Education Clubs of America.

The 30th and final event was, as always, a success.

Kent Roosevelt golfers and former coaches returned to compete in the outing honoring longtime golf coach Richard Pfeiffer and his family.

Many of the golfers Brent Pfeiffer coached on the high school golf team as well.

The brothers, Brent and Dave (a longtime golf representative) and their mom, Beth Kloskoski, also a coach for the middle-school teams at Kent Roosevelt, welcomed everyone to the full scramble for the day’s events at Windmill Lakes Golf Course in Ravenna.

When the final scorecard was signed, the team of Randy Dietz, Nate Marshall, Justin Miller and Brent Pfeiffer earned first place in the Gross Division, firing a total of 56.

All three of the golfers on Pfeiffer’s team were former players.

Second place Gross Division, carding a 57, included Greg Andrego, Jeff O’Brien, David Pfeiffer and Bill Reilly.

Champion in the Net Division was Brad Istnick, Nate Timberlake, Denny Highsmith and Nate Timberlake, while the team of Denny Ginther, Gregg Ginther, Todd Leslie and Gordy Marsh earned the runner-up spot.

The day concluded with the popular raffle and dinner, congratulations to the winners and fond stories of Kent Roosevelt golf and past outings shared.

The outing is completed, but none will forget the fun they had over the last 30 years raising money for the Rough Riders golf and D.E.C.A. and the memories they shared.
