Josh Russ of Rootstown scored his first ace playing at Paradise Lake Golf Club in Suffield in the Friday Night League.

Russ took a score of one on the card for the tough 10th hole, traveling the 144 yards to the cup over the water on the par 3 hole.

Congrats, Josh.

On June 1, Paradise Lake welcomes the 24th annual St. Joseph Knights of Columbus four-person scramble. The shotgun start begins at 8 a.m.

Registration is $110 per person and includes 18 holes, skins entry, a move-up on hole 17, sandwich at the turn and beverages all day during play. A steak dinner follows the golf. Players may also purchase mulligans for $5 per golfer.

Prizes are awarded for first- and second-place teams ($400 and $200, respectively), longest drive and closest to the pin.

June 8 will find the Kent Browns Backers hosting their 23rd annual outing at Paradise Lake beginning at 8 a.m. sharp. Golfers should arrive by 7:30 a.m.

The $100 fee per person includes 18-holes, carts, lunch at the turn and a ribs and chicken dinner as well as beer.

Golfers compete in a target hole contest as well as cash prizes for the longest drive, longest putt and closest to the pin.

Additional prizes include golf clubs and a golf bag plus a skins contest and lots of merchandise, including Cleveland Browns prizes.

A $100 down payment holds a spot for a team.

WIN A SCOTTY CAMERON PUTTER

Windmill Lakes Golf club is offering an opportunity to win a Scotty Cameron putter while raising money for PGA Hope.

PGA Hope is a program designed to support veterans and active members of the military in northeast Ohio, using the game of golf as a means of rehabilitation.

Stop by the Windmill Lakes pro shop to donate. Available putters are a Newport 2, Fastback 1.5, a Phantom 7 or Phantom 7.5.

Windmill Lakes is selling 100 squares for $20 a piece with all proceeds benefitting PGA Hope.

Drawing will be held in early summer.

JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE

June 9 is the start date for the Olde Dutch Mill Junior Golf League that continues every Sunday starting at 4 p.m. for recommended ages 7 to 14.

Fees for the league is $175 and includes on-course instruction from U.S. Kids certified instructor and Olde Dutch Mill golf professional Mike Jenior; fun drills and competitions to hone the junior golfers skills and knowledge of the game, prizes given out each week, nine holes of golf each week (paired in age division) and an end of season banquet and prize raffle on July 28.

Parents are encouraged to spectate or caddy each week and spend time with their junior golfer.
