It is a busy three days for junior golfers with the 10th Kids Am at Sunny Hill on July 21 and the 18th Matt Mishler Junior Portage County Amateur set for July 22-23.

Junior Amateurs from the 2023 tournament in the 13 to 15 age division included (left to right) Aubrey Varga of Palmyra, third; Jenni Mix, Diamond, runner-up; and Casidy Singer of Kent, champion. All three will be on the fairways this fall for their high school golf teams.

The Junior Am tees off at Windmill Lakes in Ravenna on July 22 with girls and boys in three divisions competing for their first nine or 18 holes.

The event concludes at Raccoon Hill Golf Club in Kent, where awards are presented to the top three in each division: Boys and girls ages 16 to 19, 13 to 15 and 12-and-under.

Deadline to enter is July 19.

Junior golfers in divisions 13 to 15 and 16 to 19 play 18 holes each day. Juniors in the 12-and-under play nine holes each day. Junior golfers may always play up an age division if they are skilled and would like tougher competition.

Registration fees are $60 for the 13 to 19 age divisions and $45 for 12-and-under.

Champions of the 17th Junior Amateur were: Lucas Butler of Mogadore (boys 16-19), Ashlyn Leavery of Kent (girls 16-19), Jack Flynn of Kent (boys 13-15), Cassidy Singer of Kent (girls 13-15), Mason Dillon of Rootstown (boys 12 and under) and Sia Kohara of Cuyahoga Falls (girls 12 and under).
