Another event has been added to the golf calendar.

Christmas in July Night Golf will play at the Fairways at Twin Lakes July 25 and July 26.

Registration is $240 per foursome but save $5 on that registration fee if you bring a toy to donate to the Ben Curtis Foundation.

Proceeds benefit the Kent Roosevelt girls golf team.

BEN CURTIS FOUNDATION CONTINUED

Everyone in Portage County takes pride that the British Open Champion competed for Kent State University and remains in the Kent area as the Ben and Candace Curtis Foundation helps alleviate food insecurity.

Volunteers pack Birdie Bags, most recently 2,585 bags and load into 51 bins to send to schools across Portage County and the surrounding counties.

Interested volunteers and golfers have many ways of helping the Curtis foundation.

The Ben Curtis Golf Classic is set to tee off at Congress Lake Golf Club on Aug. 10.

Guests enjoy a great day of golf, delicious food, a full bar, awards and an auction featuring a variety of exciting items. Golfers also have the opportunity to take part in a private golf clinic with 2003 British Open Champion Ben Curtis all while raising funds for the foundation.

There are volunteer opportunities to help pack Birdie Bags and additional events to enjoy while helping to raise money.

IAN HOLT

Ian Holt became a standout at Stow, then Kent State University (2014-18), where he earned All-American and Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Year honors.

Many will also remember Holt competing on the Northern Ohio PGA Junior Tour.

Holt recently won the Bahamas Great Abaco Classic on Jan. 18 and The Panama Classic on Jan. 29 on the PGA Korn Ferry Tour, becoming the first player in Korn Ferry Tour history to win twice in the season’s first three events.

PORTAGE COUNTY AMATEURS

The Portage County Amateurs will again sponsor four events this season: the 96^th Portage County Amateur, the 56^th Portage County Senior Amateur, the 20^th Matt Mishler Junior Portage County Amateur and the 12^th Portage County Kids Amateur.

Registration will open Feb. 15.
