Snow is on the ground, the temps hover at below zero when tee times are usually made and everyone can’t wait for the golf season that is, hopefully, just around the corner.
Organizations, golf courses, sports boosters and others are already adding their events to the calendar for the season, the Professional Golfers Association golf show just concluded in Florida and most of us wish that we would find one good day in the next two weeks to play a round of golf.
It’s coming.
But, for right now, golfers can prepare their calendars for 2026, clean their clubs, make their wish list and take advantage of the numerous practice facilities and simulators indoors in the greater Portage County area.
The Cleveland Golf Show is scheduled to arrive in Northeast Ohio Feb. 13-15, taking over the IX Center with demonstrations, the opportunity to try new products, contests, a free entrance day Friday for women, Kids Day on Sunday, lessons on-site offered courtesy of The Northern Ohio PGA and numerous additional activities including a long drive challenge, the Swing Zone to help chase away the lack of practice, NOPGA long putt challenge and an Island Green challenge.
The Golf Show is open from 2 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 13, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 14 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 15.
Tickets are $14 for adults and free for children 12 and under.
All ladies are free on Friday and all kids free on Sunday. Children 12 and under are admitted for the length of the show if accompanied by an adult.
Purchase tickets at the door or online at ClevelandGolfShow.com and click on Get Tickets link.
Olde Dutch Mill Golf Course in Lake Milton will host two Chili Opens this season, one set for Feb. 28 and one for March 21 with back-up dates for both depending on weather.
The four-person scrambles are $65 per player and include a warm-up hole, 18 holes with cart, lunch and unlimited chili, cash prizes, two drink tickets and fun.
Both events sold out in 2025. To reserve a spot, call 330-654-4100 to sign-up.
Membership for the 2026 season is now open for juniors. Tournament registration will open on March 2nd at 7 a.m.
All juniors intending to compete in events must first purchase a membership to access the tournament registration.
The Northern Ohio PGA hosts 36-hole Junior Tour Events, 18-hole Performance Tour Events and Nine-hole Futures Tour Events.
