The Portage County USBC has hosted several tournaments and has several planned for bowlers as the regular bowling season draws to a conclusion before summer leagues and events.
The Portage County Senior Memorial Tournament concluded on April 6, with Dave Joseph capturing the championship, bowling a high game of 249 among his five games in the 200s to finish with 1,146 in the handicap tournament.
Joseph bested Bobby Shulz who fired a high game of 278 on his way to a total 1,245.
Rounding out the top five were: Keith Lang 258-1,914; Terrance White 256-965, and Terrence White 215-1,215 and Marty Collyer 258-1,196.
In sixth place, Linda Shahan finished the highest among the women in the handicap event, rolling a 210-1,179.
The Portage County Masters rolled off on April 12 and 13, competing at Kent Lanes, Kent’s Spins Bowl and Garrettsville’s Sky Lanes.
Steve Pennington won the event followed by Scott Vandegrift, Taz Moore, Jeffrey Bardoun and Nike Toke.
The 78th annual Portage County Open will bowl May 3 through May 18 at Kent Lanes. Entry forms are available at all three lanes, Kent Lanes, Sky Lanes and Spins Bowl.
The Portage County Handicap Doubles will compete on June 8 at Sky Lanes and the Portage County Youth Open will roll-off on June 21 at Kent Lanes.
Entry forms for both of the final two tournaments will be available soon.
