An exciting week of bowling this past week included the final results of the Portage USBC Junior-Senior Trio Tournament and the conclusion of the White’s Senior Doubles League for this year.

 

PORTAGE USBC JUNIOR-SENIOR TOURNAMENT

The champions of the Junior Senior Trio was the team of Nick Kurtzman, Kari Cottrell and Scott Carter.

The trio of Ben Hawkins, Josh Phelps and Tax Moore earned second place followed by Mike Mitov, Howard Fincham and Shawn Bolyard.

Taz Moore’s team may have been pushed into second place, but he rolled the high series of the tournament, including a high game of 290 and a 813 series

WHITE’S SENIOR DOUBLES

Jim and Barb May won the White’s Senior Doubles League that concludes their competition in December before starting all over again in January.

The Mays, known as the Rolling Stones, earned the title with consistent bowling throughout the short-season league.

High games and series for the men included: Mike Harbison 258-566, Fred Endres 246-663, Mario Laramie 239-603 and Bruce Prochaska 238-651.

For the women, Tabitha Schlupe led all women with her 238 high game and 651 series. Corky Farquhar rolled a 176-509, Cathy Lisic a 173-493 and Jane Roop a 170-459.

Mark Horning had the most improved average, raising his 109 to a 127 to increase by 18 pins. Barb Palmer improved her 89 to a 101, a jump of 12 pins.

The league starts again Jan. 2, 2024.

 

PERFECT GAMES THIS WEEK

The list of bowlers scoring perfect games continues to grow.

This week, the bowlers in the Perfect Fit League watched as two bowlers accomplished the 300 mark. Jeremie Grund and Joey Hardin each rolled the 12 strikes in a row, topping Chris Osborne, in third place for high game, tossing a 297 and Shawn Bolyard rolling a 289.

The women had their own stellar bowlers as Zoe Bevilacqua tossed a 280 game and Jennifer Pope earned runner-up status, bowling a 236.

Lisa Osborne (943) and Mike Williams (1,036) were at the top of the high-series leaderboards.

Matt Lias added a 300 to the growing number of perfect games in the Garden Spot League. Lias put three games together for a 813 series.

Only Patrick Adolph gave Lias a run for the top of the leaderboard, bowling a 289-749.

Erin Jackson rolled the high game and series for the women bowling a 257-728.

 

ALL IN THE FAMILY, TAKE TWO

In the Elks and Friends League, familiar names were at the top of the high-game leaderboards.

Kevin Kommel rolled a 279 to top the men in the league.

The women’s high game was a 213 accomplished by Karla Kommel, Kevin’s mom.

 

BEST OF THE JUNIORS

Scores were high in the Special Needs League as Logan Cox and Miranda Ailes worked their way to the top with their high game and series.

Cox rolled a high game of 233 on his way to a 402 series. Ailes finished her two-game set with a 345 series that included a high game of 174.

For the youngest bowlers at Spins Bowl competing in the Bumpers League, Baylee Baldwin bested everyone in the league with a high series of 193 and rolled a high game of 107 that tied Bryson Horner. Horner bowled the boys high series, a 176.

The Spins Bowl Junior League was led by Ryan Kertis (266-643) and Emily Morrison (210-530).
