SOUTHEAST 42, WINDHAM 20
Quarterback Randy Williams had a career game to lead the Pirates to a non-league victory over Windham on Friday at Freedom Field in Palmyra.
Williams had a hand in five of the Pirates’ six touchdowns in the game.
Four of the them came on the ground, where Williams rushed for 195 yards on only 17 carries to average 11.5 yards per rush.
Williams scored on runs of 13, 10, 1 and 1.
His first two helped the Pirates keep pace with Windham, whose offense was creating opportunities early.
The last two touchdowns for Williams helped extend the Pirates lead in the second quarter.
It was in that second quarter that the Pirates pulled away from Windham.
Southeast scored 28 second-quarter points to take a 14-14 tie after the first quarter and make it 42-20 by halftime — the eventual final score.
Williams was also 5-of-6 through the air for 155 yards and another score. The aerial touchdown was a connection between Williams and receiver Michael Phillips, which went for 34 yards.
Windham jumped out to a 6-0 lead on a 34 fumble recovery returned for a touchdown by Jack Eye.
Southeast answered back on Williams’ first touchdown of the game.
Windham, though, reclaimed the lead, 14-6, on a 20-yard run by Chase Eye.
Williams tied it up, 14-14, with his second touchdown, then gave the Pirates the lead for good with his third touchdown at the 10:20 mark of the second quarter.
Windham cut into its deficit with a 1-yard touchdown run by Jack Eye, but that was the last of the scoring for the Bombers.
Chase Eye led Windham in rushing with 83 yards in 11 tries.
Williams had the most attempts for Southeast, but all of the Pirates out of the backfield found success.
Case Myers had 55 yards in three attempts, Austin Mejia turned his only carry into a 45-yard carry.
