The Ravenna Ravens gave first-year head coach Joe Callihan his first career win on Friday night with a 14-7 triumph over Warren Howland.

The Ravens scored all 14 of their points in the second quarter, but the defense was able to make it hold up by holding Howland to just 164 yards of total offense.

Ravenna’s offense was able to combine for 324 yards, with 211 coming on the ground and 113 through the air.

Pavel Henderson was the Ravenna (1-1) leader, finishing the game with 70 yards on the ground and 59 in the air.

Daniel Sanders, a junior, was able to provide some pop out of the backfield turning four carries into 80 yards.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Ravens got on the board with 8:00 on the second-quarter clock on a 59-yard pass from M’Kell Williams to Henderson. Michael Myers’ extra point was good to give Ravenna the 7-0 lead.

The Ravens added to it at 4:18 on a 3-yard run by Williams. Myers booted the kick-after and the Ravens took a 14-0 lead into halftime.

Howland scored with 7:05 in the third quarter on a 28-yard run to cut its deficit in half, but never scored again.

Ravenna had a pair of interceptions and also a recovered fumble to win the turnover battle 3-1.

Next up for the Ravens will be the 108th all-time meeting with Kent Roosevelt, which will be played in Kent.
