Lorain scored a go-ahead touchdown with 2:38 left in the game to escape with a 16-8 victory over Ravenna on Friday night in the opening game for both teams.

The host Ravens had tied the score 8-8 on a 25-yard touchdown pass from quarterback M’Kell Williams to Maykai O’Neal. The successful conversion run came from Pavel Henderson.

It broke three quarters of scoreless football for the Ravens and first-year head coach Joe Callihan.

Lorain’s game-winning touchdown was scored by John Salaman, who scampered 60 yards to the end zone.

Salaman finished the game with 120 yards on the ground.

Henderson was the leader offensively for the Ravens with 72 yards rushing on 14 carries.

Penalties were abound for both teams, with Lorain totaling 105 yards in flags and 113 for Ravenna.

The Ravens are home again in Week 2 and will host Warren Howland, which lost to Niles McKinley on Friday 21-7.
