Mogadore High School hosted the annual Northeast Ohio Youth Football League’s cheerleading competition on Sept. 27.

Here are the results:

The Field youth varsity cheerleading squad.

VARSITY

Overall Championship: Field Falcons (Mogadore 2nd, Springfield 3rd).

Jump-Off Champion: Madden Malone, Mogadore (Addison Vanderink, Field, 2nd; Kacey Boston, Rootstown, 3rd).

Most Creative: Rootstown Rovers.

Best Facials: Crestwood Red Devils.

Best Jumps: Southeast Pirates.

Loud and Proud Award: Garfield G-Men.

Most Original: Coventry Comets.

Spirit Stick: Mogadore Wildcats.

JUNIOR VARSITY

Overall Championship: Rootstown Rovers (Crestwood 2nd, Garfield 3rd).

Jump-Off Champion: Charlotte Lehner, Mogadore (Katie Paolone, Garfield, 2nd; Kellsie Vandyne, Rootstown, 3rd).

Most Creative: Mogadore Wildcats.

Best Facials: Garfield G-Men.

Best Jumps: Field Falcons.

Loud and Proud Award: Springfield Spartans.

Most Original: Coventry Comets.

MIGHTY MITES

Overall Championship: Springfield Spartans (Field 2nd, Garfield 3rd).

Jump-Off Champion: Ellie Hurd, Crestwood (Coventry name not provided 2nd; Isabella King, Mogadore, 3rd).

Most Creative: Rootstown Rovers.

Best Jumps: Crestwood Red Devils.

Best Facials: Southeast Pirates.

Most Spirited: Mogadore Wildcats.

Most Original: Coventry Comets.

MOGADORE VOLLEYBALL MILESTONES

Two Mogadore volleyball standouts recently celebrated milestones on the same night during a victory over Rootstown.

Junior Kaitlyn Clester collected the 500th kill of her career and sophomore Emma Butler distributed the 600th assist of her career.

PINK OUT FOR ROOTSTOWN YOUTH

The Rootstown Youth Football & Cheerleading program which donated pink Breast Cancer Awareness wristbands to their Rovers teams, as well as their opponents, including:

   • Rootstown Mighty Mites, JV and varsity

   • Waterloo Mighty Mites and varsity

   • Coventry JV 

In total, more than 300 players, cheerleaders and coaches all received the wristbands.

GOALIE RECORD FOR KRZEMINSKI

Streetsboro freshman goalkeeper Preston Krzeminski set a new single-season school record for saves. Entering last week’s Metro Athletic Conference Tournament game, Krzeminski had made 156 saves this season.

The previous record was set by Andrew Sway in 2017 with 146.

STREETSBORO YOUTH GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL

The Streetsboro youth flag football team recently won the Buckeye Youth Football Conference championship.

The Rockets went undefeated at 7-0.

The team includes: Angelena Lara, Tamera Robinson, Aubree Steward, Scarlett Surtel, Adalynn Berlin, Anna Prosser, Riley Faulstick, Hayden Suchy, Simone Brooks, Ta’Jay Curry.

AURORA CHAMPIONSHIPS

It has been a special fall for the Aurora Greenmen.

Aurora recently celebrated three Suburban League American Conference championships, with the volleyball, girls cross country and boys soccer programs all raising title banners.

The volleyball team finished with a 17-5 regular-season overall record and were 12-2 in the league. Aurora shared the title with Highland.

The boys soccer team went 12-1-3 in the regular season and were unbeaten in league play at 6-0-1.

The girls cross country team scored 45 on the league meet to best runner-up Tallmadge (49 points). The top-five runners for the Greenmen at the league meet were Claire Jenkins (third place), Evelyn Jenkins (sixth), Audrey Miller (eighth), Amelia Kilway (12th) and Haley Koch (16th).

BASKETBALL PREVIEW NIGHTS

We are now just three weeks away from the 2nd Portage Sports High School Girls Basketball Preview Night and a month away from the Boys Basketball Preview Night.

Both will be hosted at Waterloo High School.

The girls night will be held on Thursday, Nov. 6, and the boys night will be held on Thursday, Nov. 13.

We are excited to showcase the county’s teams prior to the start of the season.

We will see you there!
