The 1974 Windham Bombers football team finished the season with a 9-0-1 overall record. The team was coached by legendary Stan Parrish, who famously went on to a storied coaching career in the college ranks.

Parrish was an assistant at Windham from 1969-71, then took over the program as the head coach in 1972, with the ’74 season being his last with the Bombers.

His coaching career then spanned stints at Purdue, Wabash, Marshall, Kansas State, Rutgers, Michigan, Ball State and Eastern Michigan. He also spent two seasons (2002 and 2003) in the NFL as the quarterbacks coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Bombers’ week-by-week results in 1974 included:

Week 1: Southeast, 30-0

Week 2: Field, 21-11

Week 3: Rootstown, 12-7

Week 4: Garfield, 14-12

Week 5: Crestwood, 20-0

Week 6: Waterloo, 30-0

Week 7: Mogadore, 29-0

Week 8: Streetsboro, 21-6

Week 9: LaBrae, 8-8

Week 10: Newton Falls, 14-2

Windham historian George Belden has previously research the 1974 Bombers to an impressive extent. You can watch one of his presentations about the team here.

Additionally, The Portager’s Tom Hardesty wrote a piece on Parrish and the ’74 Bombers following the death of Parrish in 2022.
