Rob Moss advances to 58th PGA Professional Championship

He didn’t win, but former Kent State standout Rob Moss, advanced to the 58th PGA Professional Championship with his sixth-place finish at the Northern Ohio PGA Section Championship.

After three rounds at Tippecanoe Country Club in Canfield, the Northern Ohio PGA crowned a champion, as well as the rest of the professionals advancing to the 58th PGA Professional Championship in the Spring at Fields Ranch, PGA Frisco in Frisco, Tx.

Jason Carbone, head professional at Canterbury Golf Club, Beachwood, fired a final round 74 to add to the 71 and 70 in the first two rounds to capture the championship.

Carbone’s fellow professionals Jim Troy (Golf Dome, Chagrin Falls) fired a 216, good for second place, and Steve Mulcahy (Shawnee Country Club, Walton Hills) carded a three-round total 217.

Jaysen Hansen, of Beechmont Country Club, earned fifth place (219).

Randy Dietz, Windmill Golf Center in Macedoniam— and former Kent State and Kent Roosevelt team member — earned a top-20 finish with rounds of 70-76-80.

Dennis Miller tied for third place but the PGA of American Life Member was not eligible to advance to the final.

Next up for the NOPGA is the NOPGA Assistants Championship at Avon Oaks in Avon on Sept. 5.
