Saturday was all about repeating history for the Mogadore High School girls cross country team.
For the third consecutive year, the Wildcats won the team district championship at the Division III GlenOak event.
With a slew of runners in the top 15, Mogadore took the title in dominating fashion, scoring 26 points to best runners-up Canton Central Catholic (96 points).
“They executed our gameplan precisely,” Mogadore head coach Diana Morris said.
Katie Lane led the way with her third-place finish in a time of 19:55.85.
And there were plenty of Wildcats closely behind her.
Rachel Whetstone was fourth in 20:41.14, with Emma Quillen sixth (21:14.34) and Mia Gaetjens seventh (21:23.16).
Kai Gaetjens was the fifth Mogadore runner in the top 10, placing 10th in 21:30.21.
Julie Tompkins was 12th and Alana Santiago was 15th.
The Rootstown girls placed fourth at the GlenOak District.
Mallory Butcher had the fastest time for the Rovers. She was 17th in 22:56.75, with Lauren Krieger not far behind in 19th at 23:05.44. Courtney Taylor was 24th (23:26.01).
The Mogadore boys placed third overall with 110 points — behind Canton Central Catholic (81 points) and Division III district champions East Canton (43 points). Rootstown was 10th.
