“Aubrey’s commitment to excellence pushes everyone around her to work harder. She plays with a high volleyball IQ, brings a strong physical presence, and her competitive edge will be a key factor in our success this year.

She gives 110 percent in every rep, is extremely coachable and thrives under pressure. Her versatility allows her to excel in multiple positions, and she’s well- rounded and skilled in every aspect of the game.

Adriana and Natalie dominated for us blocking last season and will continue to be a huge presence at the net. Kayleigh can be a secret offensive threat off the bench. Jorja is one of our strongest hitters. Emma may see some varsity time this season.
Setters: Jorja Crabtree; Kyla Herren, so.
“Jorja will return for her second season as our setter. She is an incredible athlete and leader and can truly adapt anywhere on the court. Kyla put in a lot of work in the off-season, earning her a spot as our other setter.

“Both girls put in outstanding preseason commitment and leadership.
General Outlook: “Our season has promise. This is a team lead by seven very talented seniors who have committed to bettering themselves in the offseason. They show true leadership and are coming out stronger, more determined, smarter and wanting to leave their mark on our league [Suburban] since this is our last year in it. They are treating each other like family and bring nothing but a positive vibe to the floor. These girls play with a love and respect for each other and the game that’s so exciting to watch! We’ve been labeled a dominant team when it comes to blocking, but the girls have worked hard this season to become a threat offensively. And they play with absolutely so much heart that I would now consider us pretty scrappy as well because these girls together forgot what giving up is. So this year, Rough Rider volleyball can be whatever they make of it. We aren’t setting limits or specific goals. We are taking it one side out at a time.”

what to do in any given role I put her in.
“Kyleigh really turns it on for matches, reads well and has a mentality of ‘nothing is getting past me.’
General Outlook: “Every year my quote for the beginning of the season is pretty much the same — ‘play the cards you have been dealt, anything can happen on a given day.’ This year as a coach, I just want growth from every athlete. I don’t care about the wins-losses as long as this group of young ladies goes out every practice and matches and leaves everything they have on the court.
“As long as they can say ‘I did everything that my team and I could possibly do, I’ll be a happy coach. It’s now or never, and this season it is going to be tested as these girls have something they want to prove.”
Head Coach: Lauryn Gintert, 10th year, 78-113 career record.
Coaching Staff: Cali Apthorpe.

“The outside hitting position will be open for Skylar, Julieghann and Brielle to claim,” said Gintert. “Makenzi will balance time between outside and middle until positions have been decided by hard work, dedication and athletic achievement. She will be a team leader this year and is always willing to do her best at any position she is challenged with. This is Makenna’s first year on varsity. She will also play in the middle. She is a great blocker with a strong arm.
Setters: Kierrah Sanders.
“Kierrah will try to fill the big shoes of the graduated Quinn Justham as the lead setter. She ended her freshman season with 60 assists and plans to surpass that.
Defensive Specialists: Spencer Houghton.
“This will be Spencer’s first year, and she will be taking on this role as senior Sydnie Sweet is unable to play this season. Spencer is working incredibly hard to fulfill such a big position.
General Outlook: “Our team is young in varsity experience but very hungry to improve. Look for the girls to make big strides from the beginning of the year to the end. Serving will be the leading force with Skylar and Makenzi at the forefront, but I would also look at Makenna to add to this as well.”
