FIELD 2, ROOTSTOWN 1

The game was called with 10 minutes remaining in the second half after a Field player was injured while challenging a ball in the air alongside a Rootstown player.

The Falcons’ player landed awkwardly and was attended to on the field before being taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

In the game, Field established a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Cedric Martin.

The goal stood until halftime, then Rootstown knotted the score at 1-1 on a goal by Nathan Pastor on an assist from Brady Fillmore.

Field netted the go-ahead goal from Garit Greene.

 

RAVENNA 4, PERRY 0

The Ravens turned a 1-0 halftime lead into a commanding 4-0 non-league victory over visiting Perry.

Mason Ward scored a pair of goals, along with a goal each from Nick Iurato and Chauncey Walton.

Diego Jasso posted the shutout in goal.

Assists came from Julian Rios and Ben Hatcher.

 

VOLLEYBALL

GARFIELD DEF. CHAMPION,

25-14, 25-20, 25-19

The G-Men picked up the home Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference victory over Champion, with Madeline Shirkey leading the way.

Just one game from collecting her 1,500th career assist, Shirkey was back at it again on Thursday. She had 30 assists, while also posting 11 digs, 18 points and three aces.

Gabby Barnard (11 kills) and Montana McGranahan (13 kills) were the leaders at the net for Garfield, with both each adding 10 service points.

Kyla Grace was a key defensive specialist with 16 digs.

 

WINDHAM DEF. LORDSTOWN,

25-22, 19-25, 25-13, 25-14

Julia Jones led the Bombers with 14 service points, while KaNeese Cunningham hit for 13 kills in the Bombers’ victory over Lordstown on Thursday.

Quinn Justham set up the Bombers with 20 assists, while ZaNya Henderson was strong with 26 digs.

 

GIRLS SOCCER

SOUTHEAST 4, LAKE CENTER CHRISTIAN 0

The Pirates earned a Portage Trail Conference shutout victory on Thursday.

Lexi Morris registered a hat trick for Southeast, while the fourth goal was scored by Claire Dillner.
