FIELD 17, RAVENNA 0
Pitchers Maddie Burge and Olivia Bey combined to throw a five-inning no-hitter to highlight the Falcons’ Metro Athletic Conference victory.
The win improves Field to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the MAC.
Sophomore Delilah Rahe had three singles, a double and drove in five runs, while Megan Schmidt had four hits (three singles and a double) and had three RBI. Mikayla Miller added two singles and a double for the Falcons.
Field jumped out to an 8-0 lead by the end of the second inning, then that lead ballooned to 13-0 after three.
WATERLOO 15, MINERAL RIDGE 5
It was special day for the Vikings’ Jewel Lilley in a double-digit victory over the Rams on Monday.
Lilley earned the win inside the circle to improve to 2-0 on the season, while bashing a pair of home runs at the plate.
Lilley drilled a grand slam in the second inning, then added a two-run homer in the sixth inning to go along with a double and single to finish with eight RBI.
Bayley English had a three-hit game, including a double and two singles, while Morgan Sweitzer had two singles and scored four runs and Kamryn Lynn added two singles and two RBI for the Vikings (2-0).
GARFIELD 10, NEWTON FALLS 0
Lizzy Moore pitched a two-hit shutout to lead the G-Men to the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference victory.
Moore struck out seven, then added two singles, an RBI and a run scored.
Kyndall Hahn also had a big game at the plate for the G-Men. She was a perfect 3-for-3, with two singles, a double, two RBI and three runs scored.
Additionally, Garfield received two singles, a run and two RBI from Gabriel Groves and Kaelyn Tasker had two singles and scored twice.
TALLMADGE 5, AURORA 3
In a battle of co-champions of the Suburban League last season, it was the Blue Devils that claimed the first win of a two-game series during the regular season between the two talented teams.
The Devils jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Greenmen took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the third.
Tallmage knotted it up 3-3 with a pair of runs in the fifth inning, then plated two more in the top of the seventh to take the win.
BASEBALL
KENT ROOSEVELT 5, BRUSH 1
The Rough Riders received a solid pitching performance from starter Tristyn Page and reliever Ryan Carter to highlight a victory over Brush in Kent on Monday.
Page went four innings and struck out six, allowing just one run. Sanders earned the save, gong three innings and striking out five.
They walked seven between the two of them, but they were able to work out of their jams to limit Brush’s scoring opportunities. Brush left nine runners on base.
Scottie Spears led Roosevelt at the plate with a 3-for-3 game, including a pair of runs scored and a run driven in. Donovan Daetwyler also scored two runs, while Ryan Schromm drove in two runs.
The win improves Roosevelt to 4-0 on the season.
FIELD 3, WOODRIDGE 1
Senior lefty starter Caleb Gartner pitched 6.2 innings and struck out eight, allowing just three hits in a masterful performance to lead the Falcons to the win.
Kayden Smith entered to earn the save.
Offensively, the Falcons (3-0, 2-0 Metro Athletic Conference) scored all three of their runs in the bottom of the third inning.
The Bulldogs (2-2, 0-1) scored their sole run in the top of the seventh inning.
Smith had a single and RBI for the Falcons, while Caden Kolesar also had a single.
STREETSBORO 5, COVENTRY 0
The Rockets received yet another masterful pitching gem.
This time it came from Jack Pincoe, who pitched the complete-game shutout. He allowed just two hits and zero runs, striking out eight and walking only one.
Jayden Coffie led the Rockets at the plate, going 3-for 4. Braden Craft and Pincoe each had a pair of hits for the Rockets.
GARFIELD 5, MOGADORE 0
Senior Eric Geddes went the distance, allowing just one hit in the shutout victory over the Wildcats.
Geddes struck out nine Wildcats batters.
Offensively, the G-Men were led by Jackson Sommer’s two hits and two runs scored, while Brock Pesicek had two RBI.
