GIRLS BASKETBALL

KENT ROOSEVELT 63, RAVENNA 34

The Rough Riders claimed the rivalry matchup in dominating fashion on Tuesday in Kent.

Roosevelt was led by Lexie Canning’s 17 points, while Katie Keller had 15 points and Arie Wilson another 10 for the Riders.

Canning added eight rebounds, while Keller had a game-high four assists.

Kent Roosevelt opened with a 17-4 lead after the first quarter, which ballooned to 30-10 by halftime.

Defensively, the Riders pressured Ravenna into 34 turnovers.

Ravenna’s Faith Farris had 12 points and eight rebounds, while Mary Laudato had eight points and 14 rebounds.

 

BOYS BASKETBALL

ROOTSTOWN 58, AKRON NORTH 38

The Rovers picked up their first win of the season in a non-league contest over the Vikings on Tuesday.

Cole Hostetler and Bradyt Fillmore scored 11 points each to lead Rootstown, with the team adding nine players to the scoring column.

Ryan Piscitani pulled a team-high seven rebounds for the Rovers.

Rootstown took control of the game with a dominant first half, leading 29-10 after the first two quarters.
