RAVENNA 65, CLOVERLEAF 56

The Ravens scored their first win of the season in a road victory at Cloverleaf on Friday.

Senior Pavel Henderson led all scorers in the game with 22 points, while the Ravens also received a double-digit scoring efforts from senior Emmanuel Miller (14 points) and senior Bryce Monypenny (10).

Justice Haven added nine points for Ravenna (1-2).

Ravenna led 17-15 after the first quarter, 34-28 at halftime and 54-43 going into the fourth quarter.

The Ravens were aggressive and got to the free-throw line 29 times in the game, connecting on 18 (62 percent).

Cloverleaf’s leading scorer was 6-foot-8 junior forward Logan Forbes, who hit seven field goals and all three of his free throws to finish with 17 points.

 

SPRINGFIELD 69, FIELD 30

The Spartans had the outside touch on Friday night in the Metro Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

Springfield buried 15 3-pointers as a team and Trenton Stevens set a new single-game school record by drilling eight of them himself.

The eight long-range makes accounted for all 24 of Stevens’ points in the game.

Amp Ahern was right behind him with 21 points on eight total made field goals, including three from long distance. Ahern also added a game-high nine rebounds.

The duo got going right from the start of the game, helping Springfield jump out to an impressive 30-point first quarter that immediately set the tone for the entire game with the Spartans owning a 30-6 lead going into the second quarter.

Joe Crawford was the scoring lead for Field (0-1). The left-handed senior finished with 11 points.

Manny Smith led the Falcons in rebounding with seven.
