KENT ROUGH RIDER INVITATIONAL

The Rough Rider Invitational took over Windmill Lakes Golf Club in Ravenna for the first-round action with 17 teams competing for top honors.

With one round remaining at Windmill Lakes on Saturday, the Hudson A team is in the lead (298) by five strokes over Walsh Jesuit.

The host team, Kent, finished the first 18-holes in sixth place (316), only seven strokes out of the third-place spot held by St. Francis (309).

Liam Curtis, a sophomore for the Rough Riders and Christian Mineo, a senior, both earned top five finishes for their first 18-holes.

Curtis fired with an even-par 70 to tie Sam Fauver of Hudson for second place. Mineo was also solid for the Rough Riders, carding a one-over-par 71, good for fourth place.

The teams return to Windmill Lakes Saturday and tee-off at noon to complete the final round action with recognition at the end of the tournament for championship team and top individuals.

MOGADORE IMPROVES TO 10-3 OVERALL

The Mogadore Wildcats improved to 10-3 overall and 4-3 in the Portage Trail Conference with a decisive victory over St. Thomas, 154-214.

The Wildcats were led by Lucas Butler’s even-par 35 and Jude Thiry’s two-over-par 37 to grab another win over a PTC competitor.
