On Wednesday, Portage County teams enjoyed many lopsided victories over their opponents.

PIRATES CONSISTENT

The Southeast boys were not welcoming hosts to Newton Falls.

The Pirates romped to a victory by 80 strokes in the nine-hole match.

Southeast’s James Morgan followed his spectacular 29, 7-under-par round earlier this week with another 2-under-par round of 36 to lead the consistent Pirates.

Cole Bruno and Alex Peelish each adding 3-over-par rounds of 39 and freshman Owen Dombroski carding a 41 for that solid 153 team score.

Newton Falls’ best was scored by Aiden McCousland, a 53.

MOGADORE’S VICTORY

Rootstown’s Morgan Giebel

The Wildcats continued their season of victories, topping the Ravenna Ravens at Windmill Lakes Golf Club 166 to 222.

The 56-stroke victory included six scores in the 40s for Mogadore led by Tyler Pendergast 40, Brock Thiry 41, Jude Thiry 43 and Max Shannon 42.

Jason Tanner totaled a 49 for the Ravens, with Kyle Brady carding a 53.

Mogadore is now 8-1 as they continue to win over teams in all conferences on their independent schedule.

ANOTHER ROOTSTOWN GIRLS WIN

The Rovers grabbed a 34-stroke victory over Streetsboro at Sunny Hill Golf Course in Brimfield, with Chloe Gardner leading the way, carding a 43.

Rootstown’s Morgan Giebel and Ava Miller each carded 47s and Ella Derr shot a 48 on the way to the victory, giving the Rovers a 5-4 overall record.

The Rockets, owning a 6-5 overall record, saw Claire Campbell turn in the best score for the visiting team, a 49, with Chloe Shiftar coming from the sixth spot on the team to add a 55 to the total.
