SOUTHEAST’S SAMMY MORGAN
Three rounds of golf, three under-par rounds in a row.
What a run of success for Sammy Morgan.
The Southeast sophomore standout fired her third straight nine-hole under-par round of golf in competition, carding a 34, 2-under-par, at Olde Dutch Mill in Lake Milton on Wednesday.
Morgan led her over Streetsboro, 164-190.
Another Southeast sophomore, Jenni Mix, also had a nice day, shooting a 1-over 37.
Aubree Varga fired a 43 and Jessi Mix a 50 to finish the Pirates’ four scores.
Southeast remains undefeated with a perfect 6-0 record.
The Rockets have found their new home, The Fairways at Twin Lakes in Kent, to be a good fit as the Streetsboro boys topped Norton, 164 to 183, to improve their record to 5-0.
Brett Epple and Evan Reger each fired 40s to lead the Rockets, with Brody Sanford adding a 41 and Dan Masconi a 43.
Norton’s Brandon Gunter earned medalist honors, carding a 37 as Norton dropped to 3-2.
The Pirates lost a close one, losing by four strokes to Brookfield as Southeast fell to 3-2 in the MVAC Gray Division.
James Morgan fired a 39 and Cole Bruno a 40 to lead the Pirates, with Alex Peelish adding a 44 and Logan Blankenship a 45.
Brookfield’s Braydon DeMaria earned medalist honors, carding a 36.
Hunter Anderson fired a 3-over-par 39 to lead the G-Men over Newton Falls.
Beating Newton Falls on their home course, Riverview, Garfield added scores of Lukas Workman 46, Caleb Sheer 52 and Garet Warnick 53 to win by 28 strokes.
Newton Falls best was carded by Aiden McCausland and Bracin Clutter, each shooting 49.
The Waterloo Vikings split an MVAC tri-match, beating Mineral Ridge by 27 strokes and dropping the match with Jackson-Milton 178 to 189.
The Vikings’ Mason Long carded a 43 to lead Waterloo, with Jayden Eichler (45), Trevor Flarida (47) and Blade Ascurrunz and Grayson Griffin both shooting 45s. Blade Ascurrunz fired a 54.
Colton Elliott was the best for Jackson-Milton (39) and Mineral Ridge’s Dominic Balestrino carded 45.
