GREAT EFFORT FROM G-MEN
Garfield came close to topping Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference league-leader Brookfield at Sugar Bush Golf Club in Garrettsville. The G-Men fired a 190, with a solid score from medalist Landon Gedeon (43). Brookfield clipped Garfield by five strokes as the visiting team improved to 6-0 for the season. Garfield is now 4-5 in league play and 5-7 overall.
A NEW RECORD
Lake Center Christian fired its lowest score for nine holes in school history, a 157, against fellow Portage Trail Conference competitor Southeast at the Pirates’ home course of Olde Dutch Mill. The visitors’ Dylan Maninga and Jacob Rainieri each carded a pair of 37s, 1-over-par, to lead the Tigers. Southeast’s best was fired by James Morgan, a 41.
MOGADORE
The Wildcats shot a solid 159 at Paradise Lake Country Club led by Lucas Butler’s 35 and Kyle Gardner’s 38, but still lost to PTC league member Warren JFK. JFK’s Andrew Freudenberg scored a 1-under-par 34 to earn medalist honors.
SOUTHEAST
The Pirates’ Gracie Westover led her team with a 42 in a close victory over Ursuline (199-202). The win moved Southeast to 8-1 overall this season.
ANNA DRAGO
Drago (50) led the Rovers over Akron North (216 to 252) at Sunny Hill Golf Course in Brimfield. The Rovers continue to enjoy a solid season, standing a 6-3 overall in their second year.
COURTNEY EVERT
Evert, of Streetsboro, carded a 45 to lead the Rockets in a match over Springfield at the Spartans’ home, Chenoweth Golf Club in Akron. Streetsboro won the match 204-237.
BRYCE CANNON
Cannon’s 3-over-par 38 helped lead Field to a victory over Metro Athletic Conference member Woodridge at Brookledge Golf Course in Cuyahoga Falls. Woodridge carded a final score 183. Field is now 2-4 in conference play.
MADDIE KOST
Kost continued her solid play (2-over-par 38) to lead Kent Roosevelt (169) over Stow (175) at Fox Den Golf Course in Stow. Ashlyn Leavery added a 40 for the Lady Riders.
