Koralee Jenior had a say in all five of her team’s goals as Waterloo blanked Columbiana Crestview on Wednesday on the road in upping its record to 7-2-1.

The Vikings’ sophomore striker hung up a hat trick and dished out two assists.

She now has 16 goals and seven assists on the season for a total of 39 points.

“Koralee’s game just continues to evolve,” head coach Bill Jackson said. “She’s a very hard worker. She’s very humble, very hardworking … you almost have to drag her off the practice field. She’s determined to get better every day, every day, every day.”

According to Jackson, Wednesday’s game went pretty much as he expected: “We got to work on a lot of things and clean a lot of things up for Monday.”

That is when Waterloo will face Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference and county rival Southeast.

“We corrected a lot of mistakes,” Jackson added of Wednesday’s win. “The girls stayed focused, knowing we’re back in the conference race. It was important to get this win.”

Sophomore winger Alexis Henry didn’t have a bad game herself; she was involved in four of her team’s scores with a goal and three assists.

Senior center midfielder Bayley English also notched a goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Abagail Roberts made five saves.

“Abagail just continues to get better every time she comes out. She commands the defense, does a really good job back there,” said the coach. “She’s starting to find her voice, she’s starting to add some new tools to her toolbox. She’s another one you almost have to drag off the practice field every night. She just loves to work.”

Two days earlier, on Sept. 15, Waterloo was blanked 9-0 at Doylestown Chippewa.

“Chippewa is probably the best team we’ve seen to this point,” Jackson said. “Last year they were state runner-up (in Division V), and I think they have everybody but two players back. They’re pretty solid. We didn’t play well, we had a really bad night as well. There are no excuses, though. We should’ve done better than we did.”
