The Southeast girls golf team traveled to Avon Oaks Country Club in Avon on Monday to compete in the Ohio Girls Golf Foundation Showcase and walked away as the team champion.
The Pirates defeated 14 other teams, while junior Sammy Morgan finished as the medalist runner-up.
Morgan fired a 2-under-par 70.
As a team, the Pirates combined for a 344 total, including Emily Morrison 84, Jenni Mix 90, Kristen Dillon 100 and Lily Hayes 112. Ivy Tittel played as an individual carding a 107.
“It was such an awesome experience,” said Cindy Fesemyer, coach of the Pirates. “The OGGF did an amazing job hosting the tournament.”
Southeast benefitted several years ago from one of the OGGF program’s efforts — Clubs Fore Kids — to put sets of golf clubs in the hands of many teams and individuals.
It is a great start to the season for the Pirates, who enter 2026 attempting to defend their Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference championship.
