Jared Stancil, a high school golfer from Bradenton, Fla. and son of Kent Roosevelt alumnus Chad Stancil, spent part of Friday golfing with the Kent Roosevelt girls golf team.

Stancil plays for Braden River High School in Bradenton as the No. 1 golfer on his team.

Jared is in Northeast Ohio to play in the Ohio Adaptive Open Championship at Seneca Golf Course in Broadview Heights on Saturday and Sunday.

This is the fourth season for the Ohio Adaptive Open Championship that includes players with impaired muscle power, impaired passive range of movement and several other impairments.

Stancil has Down Syndrome and has become a successful high-school golfer and tournament competitor on the national stage.

Currently, he is ranked ninth in the World in the G15 classification.

His father, Chad Stancil graduated from Kent Roosevelt in 1990. He was on the state-qualifying team in 1988.

In the Ohio Adaptive Open this weekend, Jared Stancil competes in the Men’s Overall Division.

He and his father stopped by the Fairways at Twin Lakes on Friday to meet with the Rough Riders and coach Bryan Harvey as they prepare to open their season on Saturday at the Lady Rider Tournament at their home course.

Stancil played two holes with the girls from Kent Roosevelt. He was not only skilled at the sport, but also an inspiration to all who watched the golfer make his way through the first two tough holes at the Fairways at Twin Lakes.
