Spins Bowl in Kent hosted the Tri-County Sectional for girls teams with outstanding results for Portage County.

The Rootstown Rover girls team continued their outstanding bowling as they qualified to Division II District finishing second in the sectional of the four qualifying teams.

Andy Day, coach of the Rovers, expects more of his team.

“We need to pick up easy spares and not leave lots of opens,” said Day. “We need 250 to 300 more pins.”

“Bakers are important and we have been below average in those lately. I am excited to make it to the District and the Rovers know what we need to do to make it to state,” concluded Day.

Rootstown was led by Olivia Davies and Kaitlyn Hammerschidt rolling 495 series. Davies had a high game of 195 and Hammerschmidggt was consistent including a high game of 173.

In addition, the Garfield girls qualified fourth, Madison Knox of Springfield grabbed the first individual qualifying spot with a 585, Zoey Lemasters of Ravenna qualified carding a 531 and the Garfield Lady G-Men grabbed the fourth qualifying spot all advancing to the D2 District.

It was a great day for teams representing greater Portage County and future members of the Greater Portage County League.
