There was only one Division I sectional tournament still remaining following a weekend full of OHSAA events.

That one sectional was the Tri-County Division-I qualifier that was hosted at Spins Bowl in Springfield.

MAKAYLA DOAK

That was the most important one for the Field varsity bowling team as senior Makayla Doak will join others in Portage County as she advanced to the district at Rebman Lanes in Lorain as an individual.

Doak finished in the top 10, rolling a 526, good for sixth place and the first-individual qualifying spot of five.

Beth Dyer, coach of the Falcons, said everyone was excited for Doak.

“Makayla has been such a consistent bowler all year for us,” Dyer said. “She always puts in the extra time to get better and challenges herself to be the best.

“We are so excited that her hard work has paid off,” Dyer added.

The Falcons finished in seventh place at the sectional tournament, missing advancing among the top-five teams by only 150 pins.

Doak rolled the high game-series to grab that qualifying spot (191-526), with Teaghan Clay rolling a 159-392 and Allison Hinkle 130-358. All three are seniors.
