The high school football matchup between Southeast and St. Thomas Aquinas for Week 7 of the season has officially been cancelled.
Southeast High School athletic director Patrick Youel confirmed the cancellation on Wednesday morning.
The Knights were scheduled to travel to Palmyra to take on the Pirates, but mounting injuries impacted the team’s roster size and forced them to cancel the game, which was scheduled to be Southeast’s Homecoming Game.
Youel said he spent the last few days attempting to find a replacement opponent to fill in the schedule, but was left without any opportunities.
Southeast is 4-2 overal and winners of its last three games over Akron North (43-12), Minerva (44-13) and Windham (42-20).
Friday was going to be the Pirates’ first league game inside the Portage Trail Conference.
St. Thomas Aquinas is 0-6 this season.
The next game for the Pirates will be in Week 8, at home, against the Mogadore Wildcats, who enter Week 7 undefeated.
