Powerful thunderstorms, with wind gusts that reached 60 miles per hour, ripped through Brimfield on Thursday night.

On Friday night, the damaging storms had since moved on, but a new one emerged in the Poland Seminary Bulldogs.

In the final non-league game of the season, the Bulldogs rolled to a dominant 49-0 victory over the host Field Falcons.

Poland (1-2) took control of the game with a pair of 21-point quarters for a commanding 42-0 halftime lead.

The statistical totals supported the halftime score.

In the first half, the Bulldogs ran 22 plays for a total of 233 yards. On the other side, the Falcons (1-2) managed 67 yards on 27 plays.

Five different Poland players reached the end zone in the opening two quarters and the Bulldogs scored in three different ways.

Ashton Sattarelle got the Dogs on the board with a 2-yard run at 5:57 in the first quarter, which was quickly followed up by a 67-yard touchdown reception by Caleb Scott from quarterback David Xipolitas at 4:31 for a 14-0 lead.

Pete Zoumis added an 8-yard touchdown run in the first quarter (1:19), then Kyren Pope opened the second quarter with an 8-yard run of his own (9:35) — a score that was aided by good field position after Zoumis blocked a punt that gave the Bulldogs the ball at Field’s 41.

Sattarelle kept the momentum going by high-pointing an interception at Poland’s 23-yard line and returning it 77 yards (5:09), then the final score of the first half came on a 1-yard run by Chase Jones (2:42), which was set up by a recovered fumble on Field’s 34.

The only score of the second half came with only 55 seconds remaining in the third quarter and was an 8-yard run by backup quarterback Tyler Antal.

Field’s only trip into the red zone came late in the fourth quarter, but stalled out at the 2-yard line.

In total, 12 different Poland players ran the ball for a team total of 34 carries and 229 yards. Xipolitas finished a perfect 5-for-5 for 87 yards.

Freshman quarterback Mason Ford led the Falcons on the ground with 51 yards on 17 carries, while Alex Williams had 38 yards rushing and four receptions in the passing game for 12 yards.
