Just call the Garfield G-Men football team the traveling road show.

On Friday, that show will be in Palmyra as visitors to the Southeast Pirates at Freedom Field for a Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Gray Division showdown.

The G-Men will plenty of games at their home of JAG Field, but the program is in the midst of an incredible run of success on the road, too.

Dating back to 2019, the G-Men have won 37-of-38 of their regular-season road games.

The only trip-up loss in that run was the season opener last year, when Garfield went to Ashtabula Edgewood and fell in double-overtime 51-43.

Last week, we highlighted that Garfield’s offense has scored 40 or more points in 37 of its last 52 games, dating back to 2021. That number is now 38 out of 53 games (72 percent) because the G-Men ratcheted up 53 in a shutout win at Champion last week.

300 FOR FIELD

It may have come with an unceremonious forfeit (Week 5 vs. Cuyahoga Falls), but the Field football program now has 300 all-time wins.

The Falcons are the 11th team in Portage County to reach the mark.

FRIDAY NIGHT FORECAST

All of the rain that filled the early part of this week seems to finally taking a break today and Friday.

For kickoff on Friday, there is no rain expected and temperatures will be very fall like at 60 degrees.

By the end of the game, the temperatures will be down in the low 50s.

Plan for hoodies, jackets, gloves, hats and blankets!

And maybe a trip to the concessions for coffee or hot chocolate!
