Garrettsville will be buzzing tonight.

The G-Men host the Crestview Rebels in a game that has large consequences on the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Grey Division’s championship.

Both Garfield and Crestview enter the game with undefeated 5-0 league records.

The Rebels haven’t been beat all year, a perfect 8-0 overall, winning all games comfortably except a 28-21 win at Liberty in Week 4.

Garfield has just one loss, holding a 7-1 record, losing in Week 1 in double-overtime to Ashtabula Edgewood. In Week 7, the G-Men bested Liberty, on the road, 35-34, on a late-game touchdown pass from Jack Neikirk to Brandyn Bogucki in the game’s closing seconds.

Crestview has outscored its opponents 315-63 on the season, including a pair of shutouts (34-0 vs. Western Reserve in Week 1 and 42-0 vs. Southeast in Week 5). The G-Men have put up 355 points offense and held their opponents to 158.

Both teams still have a Week 10 MVAC game on their schedules, meaning that the winner of tonight’s game would clinch at least a share of the league championship.

In Week 10, Garfield hosts Brookfield (4-4) and Crestview hosts LaBrae (4-4).

“Our guys are real excited about the opportunity this week,” Garfield head coach Mike Moser said. “We’ve had a great week of preparation and look forward to the challenge of playing a really good football team like Crestview. They are a talented team and very well coached, so we understand the challenge that is in front of us this week.”
