Before the start of the 2024 season, Garfield football head coach Mike Moser needed a kicker.
An important role for any team, but especially for the G-Men, who have racked up points at a dizzying rate over the last few seasons.
It made having a trusted foot to handle the point-after touchdown kicks a vital part of solidifying the offense.
After a conversation with girls soccer coach Aaron Gilbert, Moser approached Hannah Timmons to offer her an opportunity to join the team to fill the vacant role.
She has held the spot ever since.
“She really stabilized our ‘PAT’ team,” Moser said. “She is a multi-sport athlete, a great student and works hard at everything she does.
“Hannah comes to practice several days a week and gets her kicks in before heading off to soccer practice, showing her level of dedication, Moser added. “We are lucky to have her on our team and have complete confidence in her ability.”
Timmons, a senior, connected on 31-of-44 extra points last year and has connected on 28-of-34 this season.
For the G-Men soccer team, Timmons is an equally important standout.
She has scored five goals and also has four assists to help produce a turnaround season for the program.
After combining to win only eight games over previous three seasons (8-37 combined overall record), the G-Men are 6-5-1 this season.
“Hannah has been a tremendous leader on and off the field for us the past two seasons,” Gilbert said. “She takes control in the huddles before games and is my communication go-to when I need to get information out to the team.
“She also does a great job helping the other players who might not be as confident in their skills at practices and on the pitch,” Gilbert added. “There are a lot of intangibles I, as a coach, just take for granted because of Hannah’s presence on our team. She has been a leader from day one, but also one of the biggest cheerleaders for her teammates’ successes.”
Garfield football head coach Mike Moser became the 13th coach in Portage County history to reach the 100-win milestone on Friday.
The G-Men defeated Southeast 48-10 at JAG Field.
Moser is in his 13th season and his team’s have averaged 7.9 wins per season entering the 2025 season.
The 100-win club includes:

The newest historical project that we are working on is a complete and accurate list of career touchdowns for Portage County football players.
In previous seasons, we have worked on a variety of similar football projects, including career coaching wins, single-season rushing, career rushing, single-season receiving, single-season passing, career passing, all-time program wins, longest winning streaks, all-time 10-0 seasons, among others.
We take a lot of pride in documenting the history of the county athletic landscape, as well as being a reference point as Portage County’s Sports Library!
For the career touchdowns list, we stress that we know that our current list is still a work in progress. There are some numbers we are still trying to seek out and confirm.
However, we are at a point that we are comfortable sharing what we have so far.
If you have information about a player who should be on this list, please just email tomnader@portagesports.com.
Thank you in advance!
