Ravenna will run a Pistol Wing as its base offense, while also working in the occasional Spread look.
For the first time in three years, the Ravens will have a new face at QB created through the graduation of Curtis Ross, who was a primary piece of the team’s production as a dual-threat signal-caller.
Stepping into the void is junior Ethan McKamey, who was utilized as a running back a year ago.
Senior Mark Miller will serve as the team’s backup.
Three runners return to the backfield in D’Anthony Allen, Carsyn Swauger and Mark Miller.
Joining the trio will be Amric Warner-Crisp.
The plan will be for shared carriers throughout the season, using misdirection and deception to try to create confusion toward opposing defenses.
Miller led the team in rushing a year ago with 399 in 61 attempts.
Starters across the line will be Bradley Davis, Dominick Meckley, Collin Dray, Noah Brode and Nathen Plona.
Davis and Dray enter their third season as starters, bringing experience and ability to help stabilize the offense.
Once again, Miller is the top returner to the receiving group based on last year’s statistics. He pulled in 18 receptions last year for 275 yards. He was second on the team behind the now-graduated LaDarion Askew’s 25 catches and 447 yards.
Zander Mehalic could also provide some depth, along with Isaac Thompson.
Coman’s defense will run out of a 3-4 Multiple Front.
“Our league is made up of a lot of good rushing teams, so our priority is to stop the run and be sound in our pass defense,” Coman said.
Davis had a spectacular junior season and returns again as the team leader in the linebacker group.
A year ago, Davis had 87 tackles and five tackles for a loss.
Rounding out the position group are Warner-Crisp, Marcus Sanders, Andre Mladek and Swauger.
Dominick Meckley, Demere Tatum, Seth Ashley, Collin Dray and Bryant Raley will all group together to fill out the defensive line.
Miller was an All-Metro Athletic Conference performer last year with 70 tackles and three interceptions.
Allen, McKamey, Julius Maddox, Isaac Thompson and Liam Summers will all be contributing player sin the secondary, as well.
Isaac Thompson, jr.; Carsyn Swauger, jr.; Marcus Sanders, fresh.
“Depth and injuries are a major concern because of our lack of numbers this year,” said Coman, whose team roster has only 35 players on it.
