Members of the Crestwood and Streetsboro High School cheerleading squads performed as part of the Citrus Bowl in Orlando on Jan. 1.
For the Red Devils, squad members Emmy Grebb, Deanna Stahl, Emma Sayre, Ella Sayre, Makenna Tyburski, Bree Rogan, Madi Ashby, Alivia Pruszynski, Jade Davis and Audrey Julian were all at the bowl game.
For Streetsboro, Mia Perez represented the Rockets.
The opportunity for Crestwood emerged after the team attended the Universal Cheer Association’s camp at Bowling Green State University and were evaluated on their gameday routine and camp dance. The evaluation returned a Blue Ribbon for the Devils, which indicated a Superior rating: A team that displays strong technique, leads the crowd well and performs with no noticeable mistakes.
The evaluation, along with a third-place finish in their division, led to a Superior rating trophy and invitation to the Citrus Bowl.
“I am beyond thrilled to have this opportunity for our varsity cheerleading squad,” cheer advisor Erica Irvine said. “They have really been putting the work in this year and it is an amazing way to celebrate their hard work and accomplishments.”
