Lettermen Lost (5): Ishaan Shaik, Athan Salgado, Colin Dockman, Zack Ploskunak, Connor Flynn.

Season Outlook: “We are eager to build on last year’s Suburban League championship,” head coach Chris Radtke said. “While we graduated two key senior sprinters in Ishaan Shaik and Athan Salgado, we return strong depth in the sprint group, promising talent in the distance events and several experienced letter winners in the jumps and throws. Last season provided

valuable experience that should serve us well moving forward. The American Division of the Suburban League is always highly competitive, but we expect to be right in the mix again this spring.”

SPRINTERS

Junior Cooper Ertle is described by Radtke as the “definition of an all-around athlete.”

“He can anchor a sprint relay, outlast the field in the long sprints or soar through the air in the long jump.”

Senior Luke Geyer had success in the short sprints last year, despite working his way through injuries. Radtke believes he is ready to make a big step forward this season.

Junior Gui Goedert, a hurdler, enters the year with momentum.

“His growth and grit make him a high-impact veteran.”

Senior Josh Guzy had invested in the work and brings depth in the long hurdles.

Senior Quincy John is a fierce competitor, according to Radtke.

“He is an important piece of our sprint relays. He has already proven he can go toe to toe with the top sprinters in the highly competitive league. With his skill and commitment to this team, Quincy is ready to take his performance to the next level.”

Junior Luke McGovern returns after winning the Suburban League MVP last year year. He was a state qualifier in two events last year: 200 meters and as a part of the 4×100 relay.

“His combination of raw strength and relentless competitiveness suggests unlimited potential. Just as important, he is the ultimate team player — someone who consistently puts the team first and elevates those around him.”

DISTANCE RUNNERS

Senior Nathan Eminian is fresh off a historic seventh-place finish in cross country.

“He enters his final season as a true powerhouse. There is a reason they call him ‘The Beast.’ We expect him to cap off his career in spectacular fashion.”

Junior Carson Aardema will be able to take advantage of his speed in the mid-distance.

“He’s the perfect bridge between our strong sprint group and a fine distance crew.”

Senior Dorian Gooden is “primed for a massive final season,” according to Radtke.

“He is a natural-born athlete, who made an impact in the long jump last year. He has explosive speed now has him eyeing the top of the podium in both field events and sprints.”

FIELD EVENTS

Senior Johnny Trivisonno returns as a top performer in the high jump and long jump.

“He is a pure athlete, who is ready to soar.”

UNDERCLASSMEN TO WATCH

Jacoby Schedule, soph.; Jaden Orr, soph.

SOURCE OF OPTIMISM

“We enter this season with a rare combination of a proven championship pedigree and explosive young talent. With reigning Suburban League MVP Luke McGovern leading a sprint group that is faster and deeper than ever, and state-level powerhouses like Nathan ‘Beast’ Eminian anchoring our distance crew, the ceiling for this team is quite high.

From throwers like Jacoby Schadle to jumping standouts like Johnny Trivisonno, we have high-impact competitors in every single event group. This blend of veteran leadership and hungry underclassmen has us ready to defend our title and rewrite our record books.”

CAUSE FOR CONCERN

“Our greatest challenge this year is channeling our team’s high energy into sustained, healthy performances. Success in track and field is a tightrope between peak performance and devastating injury; it requires discipline, a commitment to patient preparation and top notch physical well-being. A measure of good luck always helps as well. If we can blend our competitive hunger with a focus on staying healthy and making incremental gains each week, we will be well-positioned to achieve our championship goals.”

Season Outlook: “We have a team that includes a number of members who helped our

2025 season to end with our first district championship in years,” veteran head coach Ed Conroy said. “The team is loaded with seniors who have a great deal of experience competing in big races and field events. The 4×400 meter relay, and the 4×800 relay should have an exciting year. Coach Dutched has a large sprint group that will require time to find the athletes who earn their spot on the 4×100 and 4×200. I am confident these boys will compete well in our league this season.”

SPRINTERS

The leader of the pack is senior Cedric Martin, who already owns four school records in the 100 meters, 200 meters, 4×100 relay and 4×200 relay.

He was the Metro Athletic Conference runner-up in both the 100 and 200 last year, then also placed second in both events at the district meet.

Tysen Paynther is described by sprint coach James Dutched as an athlete “to keep your eye on.”

Paynther will run in the 400, while also running a leg of the 4×400.

Returning state qualifier Logan Border is the standout in the hurdle events.

A year ago, Border was second in the 110 hurdles and fifth in the 300 hurdles at the MAC Championships. He also was fourth in the 300 at the Boardman Regional to qualify for the state championships, earning his second state berth in as many years to begin his prep career.

Freshman Isaiah Pruszynski enters with promise in the hurdles.

“He reminds me of Logan when he was a freshman,” Conroy said. “I am excited to see how both Logan and Isaiah do this season. They are both hard-working athletes who are striving for success.”

DISTANCE RUNNERS

Senior Mason Prusha leads the distance team, returning to run both the 1,600 and 3,200.

Freshman Cole Schumacher has shown “great promise, if he can stay healthy.”

Seniors Trevor Dixon and Victor Brown will be the team’s high jumpers. Both placed at the MAC Championships last year, with Dixon taking the title and Brown earning fifth.

Dixon was also a regional qualifier after jumping to a second-place spot on the podium at the Salem Districts.

In the shot put, sophomore Braylan Rufener is the top performer.

“With some work and time to grow, we feel Braylan will hold his own this season and help the team in what has traditionally been one of our key events to score points,” throws coach George Wetzel said.

Junior Andrew Phillip adds depth in the shot put.

Senior Wyatt Rahe is the top returner in the discus after throwing close to 130 feet last year.

“Wyatt is a hard worker and is ready to have a very strong senior season,” discus coach James Dutched said.

Phillip and Rufener will also throw the discus.
