MOGADORE EARNS FOURTH AT TANNENHAUF

The Mogadore Wildcats’ golfers were consistent at the 19-team morning wave of the Joe Eaton Invitational played Friday at Tannenhauf Golf Club in Alliance.

The Wildcats earned fourth (334) behind Warren JFK (defending state champions), Cardinal Mooney and Poland Seminary.

Tyler Pendergast (83) led the Wildcats to the outstanding finish, with the help of Max Simone (84), Max Shannon (86) and Jude Thiry (87).

Coach of the Wildcats, Chris Mossa, is looking for a solid year from his team, who are unfortunately not playing in any conference, but is seeking a successful season with outstanding players.

Jacob Rainieri (Mogadore resident), competing for Lake Center Christian, earned runner-up medalist, firing a 1-over-par 73, only one stroke away from the lead medalist, Alex Eckstein of Cardinal Mooney.

James Morgan, senior for the Southeast Pirates and state qualifier, fired a 74, good for fourth-place medalist and leading his team to eighth place in the standings, with solid shooting from his teammates Cole Bruno 87, Alex Peelish 88 and Ethan Shodd 91.

Rootstown and Waterloo rounded out the Portage County teams competing as Caleb Stevens (89) led the Rovers and Jayden Eichler (95) were the best on each team, respectively.

ROOSEVELT EARNS SIXTH IN AFTERNOON FLIGHT AT TANNENHAUF

It was a busy day at Tannenhauf Golf Club in Alliance as the Snode family hosted two flights of high-school golfers, with Kent Roosevelt competing in the afternoon wave.

The Rough Riders earned a sixth-place finish among tough teams in the afternoon flight, firing a 329 behind champion Massillon Jackson earning a team total of 303.

Roosevelt was led by both Jax Turner, a sophomore, and Deacon Smith, a senior, as they carded 78s, which were followed by Jack Flynn (86) and junior Owen Puhalla (89).

 

AURORA VICTORIOUS

The Aurora Greenmen won the Kenston Invitational on the Par-72 fairways of Punderson Golf Course in Newbury on Thursday.

The Greenmen’s Brady Allenick fired a 77 and finished as the third individual in the 13-team tournament to lead Aurora.

Aurora’s individuals posted: Jackson Sarver 83, Dylan Lancaster and Joel Fletcher (86) to earn the championship of the event.

The Gus Mehallis-coached Greenmen were tied for the championship when all teams had turned in their scores, but Aurora won by virtue of the fifth-man score, Blake Sadd 90, who broke the tie with Mayfield with a fifth-golfer score of Eric Beers 95.

 

G-MEN LOSS AT RIVERVIEW

The Garfield G-Men lost a MVAC match in the Gray Division to Labrae at the Vikings home course, Riverview in Newton Falls.

LaBrae fired a 164 team score, with Austin Rowe earning medalist honors carding a two-over-par 36.

Garfield’s Hunter Anderson was only one-stroke off the pace for medalist honors, carding a 39 with the G-men’s team adding a 40 (John Kinkade), 42 (Jacob Simpson) and 44 (Ethan Howard) to the team’s total.
